The Church of Agios Dionysios – Named after the islands patron saint and holding a silver chest containing the saint’s relics. Worth a wander around.
Byzantine Museum – Is to be found in Solomou Square in the capital, where you’ll find a wonderful collection from Hellenistic and Byzantine times, sculptures, statues and many artefacts are just some of the attractions at this interesting museum.
Venetian Castle – A good hike of 2km above the town rewarded with panoramic views of the island, where the 19th century poet Dionysios Solomos wrote the poem that was to become the Greek National Anthem. His statue stands proud in Solomou Square where everyone comes to stroll on balmy evenings. |

A huge area of reed beds, the whole are is alive with birdlife and other wildlife. Go down at dawn or dusk to see thousands of birds flocking. There are several tavernas and bars down by the beach to sit back at and enjoy the natural spectacle. |

House of Latas – Situated by the castle with spectacular views, live Greek music and fresh inexpensive seafood. Open for Breakfast, Lunch and Supper.
Eros Piccadilly – Don’t go to Alykes without trying this top restaurant serving Greek and International fare in a semi formal setting. Sit inside or on the relaxing patio and enjoy some of the best food on the island.
Lighthouse Taverna – High on the cliffs of Keri overlooking the deep blue sea and a couple of interesting needle like rocks rising from the ocean is the spectacular setting for this taverna specializing in the traditional island food.
The cellar contains the best of the locally made wines to compliment a memorable meal.

Situated in Old Alikanas off the main street past Busters bar, past jesters turn right in to old alikanas and about 10 minutes walk from there. Wow what a taverna, your away from alikanas and you can dine in peace, a surperb setting in between the lemon garden, also a inside area aswell and to top it off a fantastic safe childrens area. All this and i have not even mentioned the food one word to describe it the BEST. We were so glad to find this treasure it made our holiday. |

Its situated in Argassi and is a roof top style restaurante, with indoor or outdoor tables. The food on the menu is delicious and has a wide variety of choice, something for everyone. There is also a childrens play area so if you have kids its ideal. The owners are fantastic and so helpful, they also ownt the supermarket below, the dolphin. And Stuart the PR is so friendly and funny and doesnt force you to eat there, unlike some. Went to a few restaurants but this was the busiest and best by far. Would definately recommend you giving it a go. |

Calypso Bar – More like an English type pub, Calypso is in Vassilikos on the road to Porto Roma beach with a fine selection of beverages including draught beer, Quiz nights, Karaoke, Big screen sports and Greek dancing are just some of the many amenities.
Jungle Bar – Situated in Alykes, with more of a tropical island feel than jungle, but a lively crowd always find this vibey place. Friendly staff and a good selection of music, not to be missed.
Barrage Night Club – One of the best-known clubs on Zakynthos in the town of Argassi, dress up and dance the night into morning. Well known DJs spin all the latest thumping beats. Modern decor and a nice sized bar makes for a memorable experience. |

Alykes and Alikanas – Long wide soft sandy beaches which are joined and stretch for 3km, the safe swimming and abundance of shops, cafes and tavernas just one street back make this a great family destination.
Gerakas – About 25 minutes drive south from the capital is a long sandy expanse forming a crescent shape. Just the 2 daytime restaurants here, because the world famous sea turtles of the area come in to nest.
Navagio (Smugglers Wreck) – Amazing beach only got to by boat, but well worth the effort. 20 years ago a boat smuggling cigarettes was wrecked and washed ashore here. Small coves backed by sheer cliff makes this the beach experience of the island.
