LESBOS LOCAL HISTORY
Lesbos has a fascinating history, among the many famous ancients that resided here are 7th century poet Sappho, writer Aesop and Aristotle representing Philosophy. There is the story about the island being female only long ago, hence the word Lesbian.

LESBOS ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
Old and New Archaeological Museums – Easy to find the old near the docks, A wonderful collection includes ceramics through the ages, sculpture and many other artifacts, up the hill is the new museum which concentrates mainly on Roman finds including some fine mosaics.

Fortress – An interesting history is to be discovered at this site between the islands 2 bays, the much occupied protection is now in various states of preservation. There is a pay beach below the fortress which may be where the Ottoman’s cooled off.

Agios Rafael – 20km from the capital of Mytilini in Thermi named in honour of St Rafael whose chapel and grave attract many pilgrims. The monks will let you stay free for a couple of nights.

LESBOS RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
Taverna Stratos – On the Mytilini quayside you will find this popular taverna serving the freshest fish and homely local food in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Albatross – also in the capital do the classy Greek food, good-sized portions and value, if you don’t mind being surrounded by kitsch posing as decor, make up for this bizarre eatery.

Ouzeri Krystal – On Koudouriotou is this large old style taverna offering wholesome portions of good eats. The prices are old fashioned as well (keep it quiet!)

Taverna Vafios – Molivos is the 2nd town of size on Lesbos and home of this reasonably priced cafe. Plentiful food, friendly service and Retsina by the barrel are some of the delights offered here.

The Octopus Restaurant - by panos from Greece - 2006-04-02
The Octopus is one of the best restaurants in Molivos with amazing seaview, big variety in menu, exellent service, fresh fishes, fantastic tastes, and friendly atmosphere. When you visit Molivos, you have to go Octopus. Then you’ll understand what we are talking about.

LESBOS BARS & CLUBS Add your favourite bar & club
Gatelouzi – One of Molinoses many nighttime pleasures is this outside party venue on the way to Petra. Load and proud music with the dance floor resembling a ships deck.

Amadeus – Koundouriotou 59 Mytilini is the home of this music bar, great vibe here comes with classy decor, newies and oldies will keep you going all night, they do have competition just 2 doors away at the Hot Spot. Try them both.

The Tenth Muse – To the west of the island on the south coast sits Skala Eressou a popular beach front bar with lesbians, but even if you’re not that way inclined, there are a myriad of bars and cafes along here to keep your hangover sharp.

LESBOS BEACHES Add your favourite beach
Molyvos Beach – A good choice in beaches is this long small pebbly stretch that runs south from the town. Sip your ouzo and watch the spectacular sunset. In the area try the black sands of Eftalou

Ag. Isodoros – Plomari on the south coast is blessed with several stunning beaches and this sandy expanse 3km from town is no exception, but come quick as it could get eaten up by well-heeled tourists.

Ayios Ermoyenis – At Haramidha 14 km from the capital lies this beautiful double beach, its fairly remote without any Cafes, but worth it. There is another not as good beach with a few tavernas near the village.
