Museum of Natural History - Munsterstrasse 271 This museum traces the history of the world through geology, minerals and animal exhibits. There is also an aquarium on site. The museums shop is well stocked with all sorts of goodies.The whole family will enjoy this museum close to the centre of town.
Haus Bodelschwingh - A picture perfect moated castle. The whole structure is supported by oak pillers and a tour of the impressive building gives one an insight into local history.
The Romberg Park Gatehouse - Dating from the 17th century and was originally used as the guards house to a castle belonging to Baron von Romberg, but now houses an art gallery with ever changing exhibits.
The City and State Library - This unmissable glass structure is in the heart of the city. The library contains state-of-the-art communications technology and a unique feature is the Artotheque, where one can take out prints and original modern art. You are bound to find something of interest among the 1.2 million items. |

Cuisine du Monde - Westenhellweg 132, As the name suggests this is a gourmet trip around the world. The menu is extensive and it's fun to mix up your cuisine and experiment. There is a cocktail bar and they host live music most nights.
Eiscafe Da Capo - Saarlandstr. 124, This relaxed cafe/ice cream parlour gives a choice of over 20 ice cream flavours and is only open in the summer. Relax on their sheltered terrace and watch the world pass. They also serve snacks and beers.
La Cuisine dŽart manger - Lubkestr. 21, Michelin rated French resaurant located in a 100 year old mansion. This is dining in style and the restaurant deserves it's fine reputation for good food in a refined atmosphere. They have a Beer garden / Terrace and do a popular Sunday brunch.
Mylos Cafe Bar Restaurant - Alter Muhlenweg 14, Greek restaurant that serves all the Greek favourites and a few originals from the chef. The decor is modern and Mylos is always busy. In summer the Beer garden / Terrace are popular.

Dortmund Zoo - Mergelteichstrasse 80, Easy to locate from the city centre and a very well organised zoo. Over 2,500 species from all over the world (Not much is left out) and for the young ones there is a petting zoo and playground. A great day out for the whole family..
Westfalenpark - An der Buschmuhle 3, A huge area close to the centre of town. Great in the heat of the summer to stroll the walkways and enjoy the colourful flowers, and Westfalenhallen is the venue for exhibitions, concerts and sports events. All ages will enjoy an outing here..
Westfalisches Schulmuseum - An der Wasserburg 1, I know the kids might be on holiday, but why not take them back in time at this museum of schools. They will see how fortunate they are living at this time. This unique museum will be an education for everyone. |
