| Founded as a Roman colony in AD48, the city’s location at the inter-section of several international trade routes brought prosperity for many centuries. After the ravages of World War 11 when 90% of the city centre was in ruins Cologne bounced back to become once more a prosperous, vibrant city. |

The DOM - Germanys greatest cathedral is a colossal structure that emanates beauty and power. Stunning and almost overwhelming in scale and intricacy it was built over 600 years in a pure example of High Gothic style. Not finished until 1880 the DOM took over 6 centuries to build. The giant wooden crane used in its construction, now kept inside, was for many years as much a Cologne trademark as the two massive towers of the DOM.
Hohenzollernbrucke – In the shadow of the DOM, this majestic bridge crosses the Rhine and leads out onto a promenade that is guarded by equestrian statues of the imperial family. W enormous flight of stairs leads out to Heinrich-boll-Platz and its cultural centre a complex of modern architecture that contrasts beautifully with the DOM.
Romisches Praetorium Und Kana - This is the excavated ruins of a former Roman military HQ that looks like an abandoned set of Gladiator movie. The underground museum contains displays of Roman Gods and a huge number of rocks left by former inhabitants.
Schkoladen museum - One for chocolate lovers everywhere, it is situated in a Chocolate factory where the precious stuff is produced in vast quantities. It features everything from rainforests to a gold fountain that spurts the real thing. Wait here to get your free samples of the brown nectar.
