Grotto of Massabielle - This is the place that a young girl called Bernadette is said to have had 18 sightings of the virgin in 1858. (The fact that her poor mother worked for the tourism office and was facing dissmisal is just a coincidence.) The mineral waters of the Pyrenees run into the town and the same water is called Miraculous Spring here. Catholics come over here from far and wide for the "Healing Waters".
The Basilica - Place du Rosaire, This is the Cathedral of Lourdes and is a gigantic ediface largely dedicated to the sightings. Regular masses are held here in 6 languages and one of the World's largest churches can hold 20,000 people at a time.
Musee Grevin - 87 rue de la Grotte. You can't escape Bernadette here and this wax museum tells her story, and rather unfairly compares her saintly life with Christ. It is not Catholic only, but they would understand the concept.
Chateau-Fort de Lourdes - 25 rue du Fort, You can take an elevator to this castle high above the town to discover the militery history of the town. There is a museum here containing Pyreneen crafts. |

Relais de Saux - Route de Tarbes (N21), This famous restaurant is housed in a 15th century mansion just out of town. The interior is luxurious food delectable and ambience smacks of wealth. The prices for the first class French cuisine are reasonable and for a treat this should be tried.
Taverne de Bigorre et Hotel d'Albret - 21 place du Champs-Commun, Some of the best food in town is served here. They specialise in French country cooking and the menu is highly creative. Located in the centre of town and with prices to surprise you.
Le Magret - 10 rue des 4 freres Soulas, First class restaurant in the town that has made the Michelin guide. The standard must be consistently high to be considered for that culinary publication. The decor and service match the high standard of cuisine.

| Lourdes’ market - An everyday market in the city centre, You are able to buy local produce at this covered market as well as regional foods with some stalls offering free samples. This is also the scene for tri-annual horse sales, but don't let that put you off the meat. (It's for breeders) |

Tydos Karting - Carrefour de Bagneres, this great karting track is located just outside of lourdes and caters for adults and children. They have mini-golf and big bouncy castles for the little ones. Good for getting rid of some of that spare energy.
Lourdes Lake - This lovely facility is situated just 3 minutes from the centre and people flock here on a nice day for Fishing, sailing, canoeing, pedalos, mountain biking and horse riding. There are also some restaurants. |
