Musee Arthur Rimbaud - Quai Arthur-Rimbaud, Charleville. The poet (1854-91) is the most famous son of Charleville, however he disliked the town so much that he tried to run away on no less than four occasions before he was 18. The museum dedicated to his life and works is situated in an imposing windmill. The exhibits include numerous photos of him and his friends plus copies of his writings. Rimbaud's tomb is in a cemetery located at the end of avenue Charles Boutet.
Cathedrale Notre-Dame – Reims. Reims is not only the champagne capital of the world, it is home to one of the most magnificent Gothic cathedrals in Europe. Built in the thirteenth-century it played an extremely important role in French history when in 1429 Joan of Arc arranged for the Dauphin to be crowned here as Charles VII. This was a highly significant event as at the time France was to all intents and purposes the weak man of Europe, and England and its allies were riding roughshod over the French. The following 26 monarchs of France were also crowned in this cathedral.
Centre de l'Automobile - 84 Avenue Georges-Clemenceau, Reims. It is worth taking a break from all the historical buildings in the city to visit this fascinating museum. The exhibits are all part of the private collection of Philippe Charbonneaux who was the designer of quite a few of the post-war classic cars on display. Apart from the full size cars on display there is a fascinating array of model cars and antique toys
Epernay - The town is the heart of the champagne trade and here you can taste the champagnes of the different producers. The countryside around Epernay contains some lovely villages and the vineyards of the Cote des Blanc’s, Montagne de Reims and Vallee de la Marne are wonderful places to visit. The lesser-known champagnes houses here are also happy to let you sample their wares. Tours are available by mini bus and horse-drawn carriage; the local tourist office will have all the detail
