BASKA VODA LOCAL HISTORY
A settlement with antique Byzantine roots and discoveries dating back to the 2nd and 4th centuries, this erstwhile fishing village is now a popular tourist destination. Ancient peoples must have enjoyed the pristine beaches and grandeur of nearby Biokovo Mountain as much as the tourist of today.

BASKA VODA ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
St. Nicholas parish church - gaze at stained-glass windows by Josip Botteri-Dini and the paintings of the Way of the Cross by Josip Biffel .

Gradina plateau - Byzantine fortification relics have been found here- perhaps you will make the next discovery?

Promajna and Bratus - strech your legs and explore these interesting and quaint hamlets, an easy walk away

BASKA VODA CUISINE Add your favourite dish
Sample some of the traditional home-made cheese, bread and prosciutto from the nearby villages of Bast and Topici. These can be enjoyed at the local gostionica or konoba (trattoria/ taverns). Savour the simple meals of the countryside that include locally produced olives, grapes, figs and cherries. This area is famous for its vineyards that cling to the stony hillsides and produce exellent wines.

BASKA VODA RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
King - Iza Placa 3- enjoy Dalmatian specialities and wash them down with a good wine such as Posip or Dingac during lunch from 12 or dinner until 12pm.

Konoba Gloria - Iza Placa 9 - slurp spaghetti for lunch (from noon) then socialise with the locals and catch the gossip at this traditional tavern, serving until 11pm. Round the day off with a Croatian cherry Maraskino liqeuer.

Borik - Petra Kresimira 4- tuck into a delicious pizza with a local lager Ozujsko at this Pizzeria between 12 noon and 12pm. Italians introduced the pizza, Croatians perfected them!

Restaurant Putnik - best food in town! - by Töötti from Finland - 2008-07-20
In Baska Voda, the main street only seems to offer tourist food, which all comes served with french fries, which get old, quickly. I found Restaurant Putnik up one street on Nauptica - romantic atmosphere with vines growing as roof, friendly service and much better food! Its' classier, expensive facade probably scares many off, but the price of food isn't much higher than the norm! They offer both a variety of meats and fishes, the soups are delightful. The only downside is that it shares the same problem as all Dalmatian food, too much salt. But definitely the best Baska Voda has to offer gourmet-wise!
