Vienna – This city is renowned for its classical music as much as it is for its beauty. There are renowned orchestras and angelic choirboys who perform in lavish concert halls. The museums hold a variety of treasures. Vienna’s many sights are crammed into the Inner Stadt (inner city). There are outstanding Gothic structures towering over the city. This city is showered with history and beauty, which is evident when walking down the historic street and squares past the cultural history of the Jewish quarter (Judenplatz), the Hofburg (Imperial Palace).
Salzburg –The old town is located on the south bank of the Salzach River and has beautiful churches, plazas, courtyards and fountains. There is so much charm and history flowing on the streets. Museums, houses, squares, chocolate bars and liqueurs are all paid in homage to Mozart. Salzburg’s old town is nestled below the medieval Hohensalzburg Fortress. There are beautifully manicured gardens and palaces in Salzburg.
St Anton – Here you will find several linked resorts that offer some of the best skiing in Austria. St Anton is the largest of these resorts. There is an easy-going atmosphere and a great nightlife.

In summer there is lots of sightseeing, and in winter there are sporting activities to make Austria a year round destination. In summer, which is the high season, the crowds are bigger and the prices are much higher.
Winter is less expensive with more places to go without being too crowded. In spring the Alps start to get a coating of colour, which is spectacular. |

Neusiedl Lake region – The Lake offers countless diversion making it ideal for families or active travelers. There are countless water sports and hikes. The towns below the hells are small sleepy hamlets, offering little more than lakeside relaxation, but are a great base for exploring the countryside.
Ballooning over Styria – Styria has some of the best alpine ballooning in Europe. You will cross-river valleys, mountain peaks, glaciers and vineyards. The scenery is spectacular and well worth it.
Canoeing and Rafting in the Salzburg Alps – The waters in the Salzburg Alps are not polluted and powerboats are restricted, which makes it a safe and idyllic place for rafting and canoeing. The lakes in and around Salzburg are beautiful with white-water streams, and they are ideal for canoeing, rafting and kayaking.

| Austria has excellent rail connections to all major European destinations. If you want a cheaper alternative, you could always use the bus. They are generally slower and less comfortable than the train, but cheaper and also go to all major European countries. The Autobahnen (motorways) are well maintained and fast. Major border crossing points are open 24 hours a day. The main domestic carrier, which operates several flights a day between Austria’s larger cities, is Tyrolean Airways. |

Fasching (Carnival) – The carnival is held in February and celebrates the return of spring with mask processions and dances.
Vienna International Festival – This festival is held in Vienna from mid May to mid June and showcases a range of arts. This festival is considered to be the highlight of the year.
Midsummer Night’s Celebrations - These celebrations are held on 21 June where the citizens light up the sky with magnificent bonfires.
Salzburg International Festival – This festival is held in Salzburg in late July early August and includes plenty of music by the cities favorite son, Mozart.
St Nicholas Day – This is held on 5 December and marks the beginning of the Christmas season.
