Port of Spain - the capital city of Trinidad is a vibrant city and usually the first stop for visitors. Sights in the city include Queens Park Savannha, which was once a former sugar plantation and is now an extremly popular public park. In the northwest corner is a rock garden and lily pond and on the west is a line of lovely colonial buildings known as the Magnificent Seven. The city also has other 19th century colonial buildings and Independence Square, two long streets, that are the heart of the city.
Maracas Bay - situated on the northern coast of trinidad, this 1850 meter long sandy white beach is the most popular on the island. The waves are great for surfing and bodyboarding and there are lifegaurds on duty 10am to 6pm daily as well as red flags indicating safe bathing areas.
Asa Wright Nature Reserve - 200 acres of conservation area, situated in Arima, the reserve used to be a coffee, cocoa and citrus plantation. Set amidst a rainforest, there is a lodge, hiking trails and has abundant bird life including the Ruby Topaz Humming Bird, BlueHeaded Parrots, Chestnut Woodpeakers and Blue Crowned Motmots. There is also a breeding colony of the Nocturnal Guacharo in Dunston Cave.
The Royal Botanical Gardens of Trinidad - established in 1818 on 25 hectares of stunningly landscaped grounds, the gardens are the oldest in the West Indies. There are about 700 trees in the gardens as well as an orchid display house that contains about 200 different species of orchid. |

| The most popular time to visit Trinidad and Tobago is during carnival which is celebrated 2 days before Ash Wednesday (usually February or March). The vibe is incredible at this time and the tempreatures average between 25°C and 30°C. Prices are also the highest at this time and in high season which is mid December to mid April. Rainy season is June to December, but September has an unusual dry spell known as Petit Carem, this Indian summer is a great time to go as the rates are much lower. |

Speyside Beach - this area offers the most beautiful views of the coastline and is great for bathing. Change rooms and bathroom facilities are available and you can go out to Speyside Bay Reef from here.
Tyrico - the grayish brown sand of this beach is good for sun bathing and the ocean has waves reaching 80 meters. There are portable toilets and lifegaurds from 11am to 5pm daily.
Los Cuevas - this beach gets its name from the Spanish word for caves because of the many caves on the beach. The water here is clear and excellent for swimming. There is also a snack bar, changing rooms, toilets showers on the top of the cliffs. Lifegaurds on duty from 10am to 6pm. |

| Bus service is alright between the bigger towns in Trinidad but not too good on Tobago. The best way to travel is by tourist taxis, mainly found at the airport, cruise ship docks and around the hotels but make sure to agree on a rate beforehand as there are no meters. you can also use route taxis and minibuses which have set routes and is how the locals travel. To get between the two islands you can either take the slow but inexpensive ferry or the quick, 15 minute flight by BWIA which is a bit pricier but still reasonable. |

Carnival - 2 days before Ash Wednesday. The biggest and most famous festival in the Caribbean, there is dancing and drinking, partying and costumes and a Band of the Year competition.
World Steel Band Festival - October. Otherwise known as, Pan is Beautiful, this festival features a wide variety of musical styles from calypso to classical.
Tobago Heritage Festival - last two weeks of July. The festival features singing and dancing as well as story telling and traditional customs. |
