PUNTA CANA ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
Casa Ponce de Leon - Boca de Yuma The home of the Spanish conquistador Ponce de Leon is located northwest of town in Pueblo San Rafael de Yuma. He established a very profitable farm here in the early years of the 16th century after the locals had been slaughtered. Its now a museum dedicated to his life and times.

Colonial Santo Domingo - The Zona Colonial is a must to see as it is full of 500-year-old wonderful buildings, including the first cathedral, university and hospital in the hemisphere. It is also a working district with numerous cafes, old houses and businesses.

Carnival - The biggest carnivals of the year are held on every Sunday in February. The biggest festivals are held in La Vega and Santo Domingo

PUNTA CANA RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
White Sands - 1.5km north of Melia Bavaro. The restaurant has a beachfront patio where you can indulge yourself with barbecued food and excellent paellas.

Tropical Bavaro Restaurant - Cortecito .The fresh fish dinners on the menu here are excellent value for money.

Melia Bavaro Restaurant – Located in the Melia Bavaro Hotel Resort, this is the place to come if you want to splash out.

Riu Resort Restaurant – Another classy Hotel Resort, the restaurant offers great food and service but it is expensive.

PUNTA CANA BARS & CLUBS Add your favourite bar & club
Disco Mangu - near the Flamenco Bavaro. Nightlife tends to be concentrated in the resorts, but this dance hall/sports bar resort is very lively and gets very crowded at night.

PUNTA CANA BEACHES Add your favourite beach
Playa Bonita – This is close to being a paradise on earth to many people. It consists of 13km of incredibly lovely and uninterrupted beach that begins just west of Playa Las Ballenas. Although a lot of development has taken place it has been done well and the beaches have retained their beauty.

Cortecito - This is a public-access beach a kilometre north of the first Bavaro turn-off from the highway. It is a pleasant relaxed beach populated by backpackers and other independent tourists who are not staying at the up-market hotels, which have their own beaches.

Pueblo Juanillo - If you really want to get away from it all then head 6 kilometres south from Punta Cana and you will find Pueblo Juanillo, a fishing village that has no amenities and sits on lovely waterfront. The beach here is lovely.

PUNTA CANA PARKS & GARDENS Add your favourite park & garden
Parque Nacional del Este -, is a National Park just east of Bayahibe. The park has a maze of forests, trails, caves and cliffs. It is home to amazing selection of birdlife. However there are no roads into the interior, and the best way of seeing the park is to hire boats from Bayahibe.

Parque Nacional Los Haitises – Also at the southeastern tip of the Republic, this park has enormous mangrove swamps, which hide several Taíno caves, which can be visited by boat. The Tainos were early cave-dwelling groups, who recorded much of their activities in the form of rock art. Although twelve hundred square kilometres in size, only a small part of the park is open to the public and accessible by organized tours.

PUNTA CANA SHOPPING Add your favourite attraction
Altos de Chavon – If you need a ‘retail fix’ try this shopping mall. It is perched on top of a cliff overlooking the Chavon River. It was built to the specifications of a sixteenth-century Italian village with artificially aged limestone with cobblestone streets and "Tuscan" villas.
