Parque Nacional del Este -, is a National Park just east of Bayahibe. The park has a maze of forests, trails, caves and cliffs. It is home to amazing selection of birdlife. However there are no roads into the interior, and the best way of seeing the park is to hire boats from Bayahibe.
Parque Nacional Los Haitises – Also at the southeastern tip of the Republic, this park has enormous mangrove swamps, which hide several Taíno caves, which can be visited by boat. The Tainos were early cave-dwelling groups, who recorded much of their activities in the form of rock art. Although twelve hundred square kilometres in size, only a small part of the park is open to the public and accessible by organized tours.

| Altos de Chavon – If you need a ‘retail fix’ try this shopping mall. It is perched on top of a cliff overlooking the Chavon River. It was built to the specifications of a sixteenth-century Italian village with artificially aged limestone with cobblestone streets and "Tuscan" villas.
