SHENYANG ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
Gugong - A smaller version of the Forbidden City, this complex dates back to the Manchu period. Picture the waving and cheering crowds as the Emporer Shunzhi was crowned in 1644, all the royal bells and whistles such as weaponry and the throne are on display.

Bei Ta - The North Pagoda, housing twin Buddhas (earth and sky) has amazing colourful murals of oriental gods and the familar gold rotund Buddha watching over all.

Liaoning Provincial Museum - A dusty, interesting museum, containing antique porcelain and copperware. Also noteworthy ancient bone fragments inscribed with the earliest of Chinese writing.

SHENYANG RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
Laobian Eating House - 6 Zhonghua Lu. Well known for their delicious dumplings, an ideal stomach filler on a cold day.

Curry Shop - Nanjing Jie. Good value noodle, veg and meat meals. Situated near to the market Zhongshan Shichang, where food can be sampled at the nightstalls as well.

The Traders Hotel - Zhongua Lu. Their kitchen offers a wide variety of food if you need a break from the local cuisine.

SHENYANG PARKS & GARDENS Add your favourite park & garden
Bei Ling - The last resting place of Huang Taiji who lived in the early 1600's and was the founder of the Qing dynasty. Take a walk through the surrounding park up the drive to the tomb, which is guarded by large stone elephants, lions and other animals.

Qian Shan - Named the Thousand Lotus mountains, these hills are around 80km from Shenyang and are perfect for a days hiking. Legend has it that the hills were originally lotuses gathered by a fairy. The nearby natural hot springs were a favourite bathing spot of the Emperor Puyi.

SHENYANG SHOPPING Add your favourite attraction
Traders Shopping Centre - International brand name shops for that have-to-have luxury item or gift meant to impress.

Northern Book Town - If you need to pick up a good book, some music or even a map then take a browse around this shop, situated next to the North Tower, south of the city.

Taiyuan Jie - The major shopping area of this city where anything from designer boutiques to street stalls and markets are to be found.
