WATAMU ATTRACTIONS Add your favourite attraction
Gedi Ruins – This important site dates back to the 15th century. An air of mystery hangs over the ancient African/Arab town believed to be the home to about 2,500. Of interest here is the palace and mosque. Take a stroll through here and try to unravel the mystery.

Watamu Marine National Park – Hugging the coastline is this 10km Marine Park with it coves, beaches and the Mida Creek Mangrove Forest. The best way to see the park is to hire a boat and discover the many delights in the area, look out for the turtles!

Kipepeo Project – Just by the entrance to the Gedi Ruins is this community based butterfly project. The main target here is to export butterfly pupae. Learn about the butterfly’s life cycle in a nice and shady location.

Watamu Village – A charming little fishing village, although feeling the impact of tourism has kept it’s charictor and is a pleasant way to spend an hour or two.

WATAMU RESTAURANTS Add your favourite restaurant
Watamu Paradise Restaurant – At the same named cottages is this lovely restaurant that serves fresh seafood in friendly surroundings. Good value here and a nice change from the big hotel restaurants.

Hemingway’s Resort – For a special treat try the Terrace a la Carte restaurant of this one of the top small luxury hotels of the world. Romance and good foods easily intermingle here in a spectacular setting overlooking the sea. A dress code comes into play in the evenings.

Ascot Residence Hotel – This delightful restaurant is reached at the end of the road with the curio stalls and has small tables laid out on the lawn. They make a mean stone baked pizza among other European favourites at a reasonable price.

Come Back Day and Night Club – In the village is this interestingly descriptive named restaurant/nightclub. Very good value, service is top class and the food isn’t bad either and why not go back there at night as they advise.

WATAMU BARS & CLUBS Add your favourite bar & club
Happy Night Bar/Restaurant – Relax and slowly get into the vibe in the place that is sometimes a venue for live music, and sometimes a disco, but always a restaurant, a bar and happy so why worry!

Safari Bar – At the excellent Turtle Bay resort this is a relaxed early evening venue to cool down from your day’s activities with a pina colada or two in a classy setting.

Comeback Club – About the liveliest place in town to go back to, even if you had lunch they will welcome you back with open arms. Dance, eat and drink at this popular spot.

Mustafa’s – Really a restaurant, but lively at night and worth trying the food with an eastern taste.

Poli Poli Bar - by Strong from United Kingdom - 2008-06-29
Real Kenyan locals bar, great welcome, friendly atmosphere, and cold Guinness!

WATAMU BEACHES Add your favourite beach
The Marine Park - has a host of beaches to enjoy swimming and snorkelling, if you hire a boat just moor along any small inlet and dive into the azure blue warm water.

Watamu Beach – The pristine stretch of white sands, palm trees and crystal clear water is everyone’s idea of a postcard. The public beaches haven’t got the amenities of a resort, but the swimming and snorkelling is just as good.

Temple Point – A private beach at an interesting outcrop, which is ideal for exploring the underwater world. Good facilities at the hotel.
