Luxor Museum – Located on the northern end of the corniche, Inquire about opening times as they are usually closed about lunchtime. Contains an exquisite collection from the surrounding tombs and temples. Well laid out with concise explanations. A bit pricey to enter (E30), but worth the time.
Luxor Temple – You can’t miss this when in Luxor, massive statues and colonnades and detailed hieroglyphics are some of the attractions at this ancient historic temple. Worth going at night when it is lit up and local actors revive the drama of ancient Egypt.
Cruise the Nile – A plethora of Nile cruises are on offer, the best way to go is on a traditional Dhow, sit back and be transported back in time. Passing many temples and monuments and villages that have hardly changed in thousands of years. Close your eyes and imagine Cleopatra.
Valley Of The Kings – The west bank of the Nile is where you’ll find this world famous tourist destination, where the ancient Egyptians entombed their leaders. Many tombs have been raided, and many artifacts are in museums worldwide, but the guides will tell you interesting stories as you soak in the atmosphere.

Amoun – In the Sharia el-Karnak bazaar, good for people watching in a bustling area, this restaurant offers good value seafood’s, grills in a friendly atmosphere. Open till midnight.
Jem’s – Sharia Ibn Khalid Walid, next to the Sheraton. It’s smart, but not expensive. Delicious pizzas, seafood and salads are consumed with relish. The mezze (appetizers) are meals alone.
Chez Omar – On Sharia Yussef Hassan, in a garden setting you’ll find tasty local snacks, friendly service, good prices and a chance to relax. |

Souks – The best bargains are to be had at the Souks (markets), in Luxor just back from the river you will find an interesting collection of stalls and shops selling food, spices, carpets. Remember to haggle for what you want; the shopkeeper is sometimes offended if you don’t.
Hamees Papyrus – Located at Khaled Ibn El Walid, Papyrus is the plant that grows in the Nile and was used in ancient Egypt to make paper. Now its used for art and crafts for the tourist industry. This shop has a good variety with prices from 10Usd upwards.
Egyptian Art Gallery – Next to le Meridian featuring stunning works by local artists. If you are looking for something unique to mark your visit then this gallery is worthwhile.
