Frequently Asked Questions about Travel Library

1. Can you give me price quotes and booking information for the hotels listed on the site?

Many of the properties on the site have relationships with leading travel agencies and other booking partners. To check prices and availability, you can click on the "Check Rates" or "See Prices" buttons on those hotel pages.

Alternatively, you can click on the URL listed in the hotel information section, which will take you to the website of the individual property. Many of the listings on our site include phone numbers. Or, look for the red "Email the Owner Directly" button to get in touch with owners via email.

2. Can you forward questions to accommodations or businesses listed on Travel Library?

Unfortunately, we cannot forward questions or comments to the properties listed on the site. However, we include each property's direct contact information when it's available.

3. There are three types of accounts on Travel Library: member accounts, owner accounts and tour operator accounts. Which type of account should I create?

If you would like to use Travel Library to find and share information about accommodations, tours, guides, and deals to plan the perfect trip, please register as a Travel Library member.

If you own or represent a Bed and Breakfast, Cabin, Chalet, Condo, Cottage, Farm House, Guest House, Riad, Pension, Vacation Home, or Villa and would like to list or update your property's details on Travel Library, please register for an owner account.

If you own or represent a tour company and would like to list your tours and excursions on Travel Library, please register for a tour operator account.

4. I forgot my password!

You can request that your password be resent to the email address connected to your owner account by clicking the "forgot your password? - click here" link located on the appropriate page:

If you are an owner, please make sure that you check the email inbox that is connected to your owner account for our password email. This is not necessarily the same email account as the address connected to your property listing contact form.

5. I remember my password, but I can't log in!

In order to log in you must activate your Travel Library account. You'll find an activation link in the confirmation email that was sent to you after you registered. Please click on the activation link and try logging in again.

Please make sure that you are logging in with the email address that you used to create your account. This is not always the same email address that is on file as the contact email address for your accommodation listing or other submissions.

Please make sure that you are logging into the appropriate login screen for the type of account that you registered for.

6. How much does it cost to be listed on Travel Library?

There is no charge to list your business on Travel Library.

7. How can I submit my property to be listed on Travel Library?

You can submit your accommodation to be considered for a listing through the following link:

8. How can I submit my tour to be listed on Travel Library?

9. How do I update my property listing?

If you'd like to update your listing, please log into your Travel Library control panel using the "owner login" at the top right of the home page (http://www.travel-library.com).

After you've logged in, you'll find a link to update your listing on the right side of your control panel under "options."

10. How can I add photos to my property listing?

You can upload photos to your listing by logging into your Travel Library owner control panel using the "owner login" at the top right of the home page http://www.travel-library.com.

After you've logged in, you'll find a link to update your existing property listings in your control panel. Please follow the prompts on this form to add this information to your listing. You'll have the opportunity to upload photos on the photos section of this form.

11. How do I add to the special offers section of my property listing?

If you'd like to update the special offers section of your listing, please log into your Travel Library owner control panel using the "owner login" at the top right of the home page (www.travel-library.com).

  • Accommodations (includes bed & breakfasts, inns, villas, condos, vacation homes, and more)
  • Holidays (destination guides for top vacation locations)
  • Car Rental (local agency information to help you find rental cars)
  • Short Breaks (top things to do in many of the top travel destinations)
  • Airports (helpful information in navigating the world's airports)
  • Travelogues (real stories by real travellers)

Ways to Explore

  • Visit the home page to see which hotels have just been reviewed by travellers like you
  • Know you want to stay in a hotel? Select the Hotel link in the top navigation bar, then choose your country and city of choice
  • Interested in a vacation rental or small inn? Select Accommodation and choose the type of place you would like to stay; then browse by geography
  • Don't know much about the destination? Visit our Holidays section to learn more

Search Tip:

  • Be as specific as possible: if you are looking for accommodation in New York, you might search "New York: & Hotel", whereas, simply searching "New York" will bring up all our guides and services listed for New York.

The more precisely you describe the service or destination that you are looking for, the more accurate the results from your search should be.

Travel Library Submissions

Travel Library actively encourages its users to submit their reviews, experiences and thoughts as freely as possible, providing our community of travellers access to genuinely practical and independent travel information.

It is a condition of the Travel Library's submissions policy that users do not post any unlawful, abusive, libellous, obscene, defamatory, pornographic or otherwise harmful information. Posts must not contain harassing or offensive language, including sexual references, racial slurs or any other deliberately inflammatory comments or suggestions.

All submissions are manually checked by our team of travel editors prior to their inclusion on the Travel Library website. We aim to include all accepted submissions within 48hrs.

Submitting to Travel Library

Travelogues

To submit your travel stories, adventures and experiences, go to the Travelogues section and select the area of the world that your travelogue relates to most closely. At the bottom of the page you have selected you will find a submission box, where you can type or cut and paste your travel writings.

You are also required to submit a title that most accurately describes your experience. Try and make this as catchy as possible, as this will be the first thing people read to decide whether they want to read your travelogue.

Once submitted, your travelogue will be manually checked by one of our travel editors to ensure that it meets our submissions policy. Approved submissions usually go live within 48hrs of submission, and you will receive an email as confirmation that your submission has been approved. Once approved, the travelogue will be listed within the destination section that you selected and will automatically be added to our most recent travelogue submissions section of the travelogue home page.

Hotels

To rate or review a particular hotel, select the hotel listing that you would like to rate and enter your review and comments to the Hotel Submission box at the bottom of the page.

To make your comments more meaningful for our other users, we request that you select your Age Group and Type of Traveller from the list or options provided. It is important to stress that this information will not be used for marketing purposes, but rather is intended as a means for our users to evaluate your review in the context of their particular travel needs.

For example, the expectations of a young backpacker at a particular hotel may be radically different to that of a 50-something business man, and thus we feel such a qualification is helpful for our users.

Holidays

Users can submit their suggestions and reviews for the Travel Library holiday guides.

Travellers who have visited any destination listed within Travel Library are welcome to recommend their favorite holiday attractions on any of the following sections:

  • Tourist Attractions
  • Cuisine & Restaurants
  • Bars & Clubs
  • Beaches
  • Parks & Gardens
  • Shopping
  • Children's Activities
  • Useful Website

To submit your holiday tip or suggestion, go to the relevant section of the holiday destination you have visited and click the Add your favourite link to add your suggestion.

Please note: This section is intended for genuine submissions from holiday makers who feel that our users would find the recommended attraction or service of real interest to them. We request that restaurateurs, bar owners and so on do not abuse the Travel Library submissions tool by using it as a free listing service.

Our team of travel editors manually checks all submissions and is proactive in rejecting blatant attempts to manipulate the independent information that Travel Library aims to offers the community.

In addition, holiday makers are able to rate and review holiday providers, by submitting their rating 1 - 10 and comments relating to their experiences with the particular holiday provider.

Short Breaks

User can recommend their favourite thing to do in over 300 cities worldwide. If you want to recommend an attraction or activity please do not hesitate to submit your suggestion within the Short Breaks section of Travel Library.

We are looking for recommendations on how to spend the perfect 48hrs in the city of your choice. Our travel writers have selected their top ten, if you think that we have missed something, go to the city of your choice and complete the submission page at the bottom of the relevant page; better still submit your own top ten!

Personal Details

When submitting information to Travel Library.com, we will request the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Country of Residence
  • Email Address
  • Website URL (where appropriate)

In line with our Submissions Policy, no personal information about our users will be shared with any third parties without your permission. It is important to stress that your email address will not be posted on the website and will only be used by Travel Library to contact you about your submission or to contact you about product changes and improvements.
