Mallorca Travel Guide

Mallorca Local History

Mallorca, or Majorca, depending on how you know it, has always been a sultry seductress, attracting travellers, lovers, and sun worshipers since Roman times. The favourite holiday spot for the Spanish royal family, and other such luminaries, including Chopin and his bride George Sands who spent their scandalous honeymoon basking in its balmy caress.

Mallorca Attractions

Top Attractions

Cal Conills - Absolutely one of the best restaurants in this area both for excellent food(specialises seafood)atmosphere and service. Situated right on the sea front in Porto Drac in St Elm. Watch the sun go down over Dragonera Island. A must for romantics!!

The Strathallan Arms - Found this wonderful bar/restaurant in Arenal first day of our holiday. We were surprised by the huge welcome we got by the Landlords Ali and Carolyne. It is true what they say about the Scottish hospitality, it was in abundance here. The food was delicious and plentiful, reasonably priced too, all prepared fresh in the kitchen. The entertainment was great. A good variety of music all day, all good background stuff, oldies and some newies. The Strathallan Arms is a must to visit. We are planning on returning later in the year. They made our holiday!

Strathallan Arms, Arenal, Majorca - The Strathallan Arms was a real find when I visited Arenal last month. It's a super pub with a great selection of drinks - and generous measures too. Food is served too, and what's more it's all home cooked and it is absolutely delicious. It is a Scottish run bar which made a really nice change from the many other bars of a variable nature located in the town, and it is by far and away the best bar in Arenal. I will most certainly call at the Strathallan Arms again when next I visit Majorca.

Mallorca Beaches

With over forty beaches to choose from, Mallorca must be the closest island to heaven on earth for swimmers, sun-seekers, and water sports enthusiasts. From over-crowded tourist hangouts to quiet, undeveloped secret bays for nature and other kind of lovers, everybody finds their place in the sun.

Mallorca Restaurants and Bars

Mallorca Restaurants

Shogun - C. Camilo Jose Cela, 14. (Palma) Sushi, fried noodles, and bountiful servings of meat and tempura combos satisfy the hungriest visitor and while the bill may leave the wallet temporarily in shock, it is wise to remember there are some things worth paying for.

Na Baucano - Sta. Barbara, 4. (Palma) This restaurant serves vegetarian cuisine prepared with only the freshest local products.

Restaurante Balear - Santa Catarina d'Alexandria, 14. (Puerto de Soller). Surely, this restaurant was a gift from the patron saints of backpackers and the poverty-stricken, as it serves inexpensive meals of paella and other affordable dishes.

Mallorca Bars & Clubs

Abaco - C. Sant Joan, 1.(Palma) Located in the Barri Goltic near the waterfront, this spot is perfection on earth, with a 19th century courtyard furnished with wicker and marble, where you sip cocktails to the sounds of cooing doves and classical music.

La Bodeguita del Medio - C. Vallseca, 18. (Palma) Dance to Cuban rhythms and sip Hemingway's favourite tipple in this sophisticated and well known nightspot.

Tito's Palace - Paseo Maritimo. (Palma) Forget sophistication, ditch the classical stuff, and get wild in this hip disco, where flashing lights and mirrors spark the crowd to hard house sounds.
