Hierro Local History
The Canaries have always been surrounded by an aura of mystery and legend; in fact some people claimed they were the remains of Atlantis.

Its people, the Bimbaches, lived in simple caves or dry stone dwellings and practiced agriculture and coastal fishing.
The Bimbaches also left behind lots of petroglyphs which can now be view at many sites all over the island such as El Julan.
