Verona Attractions

Top Attractions

Basilica San Zeno Maggiore - Piazza San Zeno. This Romanesque church and campanile was built between the 9th and 12th centuries. The entrance consists of two pillars with puce-coloured marble lions and a rose window called the Ruota della Fortuna. The panels on the bronze doors are an amazing achievement of medieval art, sculpted in the 12th century. This is one of the top attractions of Verona and is a must see.

Castelvecchio - Corso Castelvecchio 2. This old castle, which stands beside the Adige river, was built in the 14th century. The castle now houses an art museum, with important paintings from the Veronese school and other masters of northern Italy. 14th and 15th century sculptures are found on the ground floor, and on the upper floor there are masterpieces of paintings from the 15th to the 18th century. There is so much to see at the castle and is not to be missed.

San Fermo - Stradone San Fermo. This 11th century Romanesque church forms the foundation of the 14th century Gothic building that surrounds it. The interior has a single nave and an amazing roof constructed of wood. The most important work found inside is Pisanello's frescoed Annunciation, the work reveals the artist's keen eye for architectural detail and his bizarre animals.

Casa Halliwell Via Santa Felicita 8,wonderful place close to Ponte Pietra, Casa Halliwell is a very extraordinary lounge and wine bar in an old church. The atmosphere is magical, food is very peculiar (kebab-sushi-sashimi-Internatinal salads) but absolutely affordable. It's perfect for foreigners to stop and have some rest or to have some "aperitivo" pre dinner or after dinner... Bartenders are kind and friendly. it's really worth visiting. wwww.casahalliwell.eu
