Markethalle - The market is held daily and you can find fresh fruits and vegetables, Located in the heart of the city in Cathedral Square.

Bertoldsbrunnen - This is the centre of town where only trams run the roads. Plenty of shops and cafes that spill onto the pavement in the summer.

Landkartenhaus Voigt - Schiffstr. This book shop is where you will find maps and general information about the city. There is an English section and the shop is a Freiburg institution.

Die Hans-Thoma-Stube - Rotteckring 16, In the Colombi Hotel. This stylish affair has consistently been touted as one of the best in Freiburg. International cuisine is served here in style and the chef constantly changes the menu in his effort to stay on top of the game.

Eichhalde - Stadtstrasse 91, Located in the district of Herden(A 20 minute stroll from the centre) and popular with the locals (Always a good sign) French and German fare is well presented and the ingredients are farm fresh. The menu is inventive and food tasty.

Wolfshohle - Konviktstrasse 8, located in a beautiful old street. The interior is decorated like an Alpine lodge and food is mainly Italian. Tasty home made food served in a warm friendly place. Always busy so you may have to book.

Freiburg Bars & Clubs

Jazzhaus - Schnewlinstrasse 2, Pop, folk, blues, and jazz shows are to be enjoyed here and most of the bands are well known International acts. The club is very popular among the locals and houses a well stocked bar.

Le Cher - Niemensstrasse 8, This is a laid back club/pub and sometime hosts live bands, but it's popular for meeting old friends and new. The bar is well stocked and they serve cocktails.

Kagan - Bismarckallee 9, Located by the Bahnhof, this three floor establishment houses a sassy restaurant during the day and transforms into a bar and lounge at night. The bar does cocktails as well as the usual beverages and they have a live band on the 1st Sunday of the month.

Exit - Kaiser-Josef-Str. 248, Popular with the student crowd most of whom come for a pre disco drink and sometimes stay for the night. Don't worry about the name, they won't throw people out.
