Rennes Parks & Gardens

Thabor Park - This beautiful park is found in the centre of the city. With ten hectares of green flora and seasonal plants this is a great place to go and recharge after a hectic day in the city. You can stroll around through the many different types of trees or go to the Botanical gardens in the east of the park.

Maurepas Park - Located in the south of Rennes, this park is a mixture of history, nature and activities. You can take a break and relax amongst all the trees, take a stroll and look at all the historical buildings, or you can play with the kids in the playground area. You can have a great day out at this park.

Le Navira - 39 rue St-Georges. This simple and friendly French restaurant has outdoor seating and is on a busy semi-pedestrian alley east of the Palais du Parlement. Le Maquis - 13 rue St Malo. This lively and friendly African restaurant, found north of St Anne church, serves Senegalese marinated chicken and fish dishes and Cameroonian beef stew. It is very popular with the locals and tourists alike, the food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable.

Mrs Dalloway - 5 rue Nationale. This eccentric English tearoom, in the heart of the city, serves teacakes; boiled eggs; pies; salads; and savoury tarts. This is a great place to go if you're looking for a quick bite to eat, the food is great and the prices are reasonable.

Barantic - 4 rue St Michel. This is one of the most popular bars in Rennes, and is frequented by Breton nationalists and rowdy students. This is a great place to go if you're looking for a fun night out and want to mingle with some of the locals. They occasionally have some live music performances.

Dejazey Jazz Club - 54 rue St Malo. This is one of the best jazz clubs in town, it is very popular with the locals and tourists alike. They have live jazz gigs twice a week, and play recorded jazz the rest of the week. This is a great place to go if you're looking for a more relaxed night out.

Club Ubu - 1 rue St Helier. This is the main party and large-scale live music venue. It is very popular with both the locals and tourists. This is the place to go if you're looking for a serious party that will last all night long.
