Pau has many opportunities for you to buy authentic regional specialties, such as chocolates; sweet jams; and Basque antiques. The pedestrian areas rue Serviez and rue des Cordelieres have a range of boutiques and shops that sell these items, you can also try rue Louis-Barthou; rue Henry-IV; and rue du Marechal-Foch.
Pau Activities
Grottes de Betharram - Found at at St-Pe-de-Bigorre, just out Pau. This is a great place to take the kids, part of the eighty-minute tour around its spectacular stalactites and stalagmites takes place in a barge on an underground lake and the remaining kilometre is by miniature railway. Entrance fee is around $7.50.

Au Fin Gourmet - 24 av. Gaston-Lacoste, on the southern edge of Pau near the rail station. This restaurant has a postmodern, circular dining room, whose soaring windows overlook a park, includes access to an outdoor terrace for warm-weather dining and serves a cuisine based on regional ingredients.
Chez Pierre - Established in 1924, this is one of the best restaurants in Pau, it lies within a 5-minute walk west of the chateau of Pau. Here you can dine in one of three dining rooms: one outfitted like a salon in an English men's club; one loaded with plants like a greenhouse; and the other with a sweeping view over the gardens. They serve a range of excellent creative local dishes.
Le Berry - 4 rue Gachet. This is one of the most popular restaurants in Pau, so get there early or you'll have to stand in a queue outside. They serve a wide range of local cuisine and the chateaubriand rossini is highly recommended. The food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable.

Le Garage - 49 rue Emile-Garet. This is one of the best and most popular bars in Pau, and is very popular with locals and tourists alike. It is a great place to start a night out on the town, have a few drinks and meet some new people. The prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent.
Le Caveau - 18 rue Castetnau. This bar is the perfect place to go if you're looking for a more laid-back and relaxing night out. Here you can chill, have a few drinks and strike up conversations with one of the many locals that frequent the bar.
Le Paradis - 11 place du Forail. This is one of the most popular dance clubs in Pau and is the place to go if you're looking to party the night away. Here all ages mix, mingle, and take to the huge dance floor to the beat of Top-40 tunes.
