For glitz and glamour, your first stop should be rue Gambetta and rue des Dominicains, where boutiques carry the best names in fashion and perfume. The old town is home to boutiques that carry antiques; arts and crafts; bric-a-brac; and clothing and jewelry. Many of Nancy's antiques shops specialize in Art Nouveau.

Parc animalier de Courzieu - Found in the beautiful area of the Pays de l'Arbresle, this wildlife park offers a unique experience with birds of prey, wolves and our feline friends. Activities include a walk around the valley of the wolves where one can watch them in their natural environment, as well as educational games and exhibitions available for children and adults.

Nancy Parks & Gardens

Water Garden - This garden created by Alexandre Chemetoff is situated between the canal and Bastien Lepage and La Mothe streets. It was opened to the public in July 1996. This park is a permanent scene of plant life, fountains, trees and ponds with their aquatic plants. It is a great place to stroll and get lost in the beauty.

Charles III Park - This modern park is found in the heart of the Charles III district. It has been organised with space for play and space to relax: playgrounds for toddlers; a sports ground; and lawns. This is a great place for the whole family to take a break from sightseeing and have some fun.

Le Faitout - 7 rue Gustave-Simon. This cosy restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere, serves delicious, beautifully presented organic food. There's a vegetarian set meal for $15.75, otherwise there are menus at $19; $24 and $27. This is an excellent place for lunch or supper.

L'Aiglon - Located at 5 rue Stanislas, this is one of the most popular restaurants in Nancy. They serve interesting and well-prepared meals for around $19–21, including wine and coffee. For more sophisticated traditional and local cuisine, with dishes like choucroute, tourte lorraine, baeckeoffe, poule-au-pot, there's the menu terroir at $18.

L'Excelsior - Found at 50 rue Henri-Poincare, cnr rue Mazagran in front of the train station. This fin-de-siecle Art Nouveau brasserie is popular with everyone who is anyone in Nancy. Now part of the Flo brasserie chain but managing to retain its superb interior and good food, menus at $24 and $32. It's also the best daytime stop for coffee.

4A - 32 avenue du XXe Corps. With a bright terrace for summer months and cheerful indoor decor for Nancy's long winters, this bar provides a perfect venue for salsa and groove, as well as art exhibits and other trendy happenings. This is an excellent place to start off sampling the nightlife Nancy has to offer.

Reservoir Cafe - Located at 13 rue Callot, this fashionable bar has a very warm and friendly atmosphere. With its leather armchairs and mellow music, this is a great place to have a more relaxed evening out, while sampling some of the famous cocktails on offer here.

Theatre le Vertigo - 29 rue de la Visitation. Postmodern gargoyles add to its interesting theatrical atmosphere. They have live bands and other performances regularly. It is very popular with the locals and is a great place to party the night away.
