Molines Ski Information

General information

Molines is a picturesque resort in the Queyras area of the Alps and lovely to stroll around on the days that the pistes get too much. Most of the slate and stone houses in the area have steep roofs and the village has a communal bread oven which is used for festivals. You will also find quite a lot of sundials in the village. Saint Romain Church just outside the village dates back to the 14th century and is dominated by the bell tower. Hiking is ideal in the area and limited trails are available in the Winter. At this altitude the air is invigorating and views magnificent. Ask at the tourist office (Tel:0492458322) for the routes around the local hamlets.

Apres-ski

Not much to report apart from a few hotel restaurants and bars. There are a couple of cafes in the village, but for a lively social scene you may have to look further afield to Brancon which is the nearest town of any size at 18 km away.

Overview

Molines is a tiny hamlet near the border with Italy. 180km from Grenoble, which is the nearest large city with an airport. The village is definatly not for clubbers, but the high altitude ensures snow cover most of the time. Snowboarders have a dedicated park and there is plenty of cross country to enjoy. The tiny population swells during the season and there is hotel and self catering options, The village is traditional and the authentic cafes are perfect to relax after a morning on the slopes. The resort is probably more suitable for the experienced skier, but do's offer some more gentle slopes.
