Les Gets Ski Information
General information
The village is lovely to explore on those days that you feel shoes will be more comfortable than skis. A great place to start would be The Mechanical Music Museum, which is interesting and fun for all. It not only outlines the history of music reproduction, but clocks and early ancestors to our video games. Apart from Saturday it is open every afternoon. The church organ is among the best in the world and can be heard on Tuesday evenings for a ear treat. There is also a wonderful collection of automated dolls and models at the Roger and Gallet automatons museum. So if you want to take the kids from the child care for a day, they are sure to love time in the two museums in the village. There is the weekly market on Thursday mornings near the skating rink.

Great choice of restaurants in the village including traditional French cuisine, creperies and fondue specialists, as well as snack bars. The altitude restaurants are more sophisticated and for a taste of Alpine tradition try Le Belvedere. The cinema shows every day and some films are subtitled. A good selection of pubs, with some having live music and for the homesick Irish people there is a pub just for you.The disco pumps out all the latest chart hits till the early hours and for the young and restless, this is where to meet and dance.
Overview
Les Gets is at the edge of the huge Portes du Soleil area and although the altitude is fairly low, the resort gets good snow for most of the season. The ski school is excellent and there are enough gentle slopes to hone your skills. The child care facilities are first class and a holiday here would be enjoyed by a family. Boarders are well looked after with a dedicated park and the use of all pistes.Night skiing by torch, sleigh rides, telemark and snowshoeing are all popular. The village houses a bowling alley, ice rink, gym and swimming pool. Shopping is adequate and there is a supermarket. You might want to look elsewhere for a wild nightlife, but there are plenty of places to eat.
