Carrefour Les Milles - You are never too far from a shopping centre in France and this one to the south of the city includes a huge supermarket, Plenty of smaller outlets for goods and services and a food court.

Myriam Gautier - This is a charming gift shop in the area of Hotel de Ville. Stocking a wide range of items beginning with fashionable clothing, original art works and unusual gifts for the hard to buy for friend.

Europa Discount - This bargain shop is located near the post office in the centre of town. It might not be all quality, but they certainly bring in large amounts of food from far and wide. There are some good finds to be purchased here.

Bacchanales (Les) - Just stroll along the Rue de la Couronne in the centre of town to find this popular diner. The creative chef enjoys entertaining in style and the menu is constantly changing, but the good quality never does.

Chez Jo - This is an Aix institution and serves International dishes in it's warm interior or on a nice day tables spread out onto the street. Pizza, Pasta and French favourites dominate at a fair price.

Clos de la Violette (Le) - You'll have to travel up the hills above town for this gourmet restaurant. Located in the Sextius district and serving well presented French country cuisine. Locals lap up the atmosphere in this house and you should book.

Verdun (Le) - This busy cafe/bar is well located opposite the Palais de Justice. Open from morning till night it's a good place to relax with a snack on a street side table and people watch.

Aix En Provence Bars & Clubs

Mistral (Le) - This is a well known disco in the Mirabeau area and always busy with the 'in' crowd, celebs, young, old and anything inbetween. If you can make it past security then you are on the towns A list. Spacious dance floor, bar and thumping music.

Queen's Head - This has been a fixture in the centre of town for a number of years, and as the name suggests they stock British beer and a great friendly atmosphere to match.They also serve basic pub food.

The Red Clover - You can't ignore the Irish and they are well represented here in the Hotel de Ville area. Homesick British people will feel welcome in the traditional Irish interior. Guinness and other favourite flow at night and they serve bistro type meals.

Bistrot Aixois - One of the most popular venues in town up the hill at Sextius. A visit to Aix without coming here just would not be complete. Meeting place for the young and vibrant who don't mind shouting to be heard. They serve a reasonable lunch as well.
