Zauchensee Ski Information
General information
The town of Salzburg offers visitors a great selection of places to visit, should they wish to take a break from skiing. The Salzburg Cathedral's original building was constructed around A.D 774, but was later transformed into the current Romanesque-style building, built in 1181. The cathedral is most famous for its 4,000-pipe organ. The Carolino Augusteum-Volkskundemuseum is another place which should definitely not be missed. It is home to an interesting collection of local folk art and traditional costumes. The Salzburger Tiergarten is a the perfect place to visit to enjoy a day of fun-filled family entertainment. The zoo is home to a diverse selection of animals, ranging from otters and white rhinoceros to antelope, cheetahs and griffin vultures.

Apres-ski
The Apre Ski scene offers visitors a good selection of activities. The resort is equipped with a sports center consisting of 2 tennis courts and 3 squash courts. There is also a large indoor swimming pool and a sauna. The resort is equipped with a bowling alley and an ice rink, which promises to offer hours of entertainment for both young and old. There is also a couple of bars and clubs, as well as a good selection of nice restaurants available. Other activities available include horse riding, snowshoeing and sleigh rides.
Overview
The Zauchense ski resort is a beautiful little hamlet situated just above the town of Altenmarkt. The resort features a total of 35km of cross-country skiing, most suited for intermediate skiers and beginners. There is some good off-piste skiing available for experts and snowboarders. The Apre Ski scene offers visitors a good selection of activities. There is a couple of bars and clubs, as well as a good selection of nice restaurants available.
