Our restful atmosphere of fresh mountain air, 129 acres of peaceful woodlands and open fields at the foot of Pasture Fence Mountain are sure to please.
The housekeeping, pet friendly A-Frame Cottage and cedar timber frame cottages overlook our tranquil lake and offer a perfect combination of comfort, nature and simplicity for couples and small families. Walk out your cabin door to easily accessible trails for bird watching, fishing, hiking and biking. We provide organic coffee, linens and towels and a canoe and mountain bikes for exploring.

We are approximately 40 min. from Monticello and Ashlawn. We are 30 min. from Charlottesville and the University of Virginia with its great campus, art museum, galleries, restaurants, historic downtown mall and Ivy Creek Natural Area. We are also 30 min. from Waynesboro, The Va. Wildlife Center & the Frontier Culture Museum. Rodes Farm Stable at Wintergreen Resort offers horseback riding lessons & trail rides, 45 min. away.
Spend time getting to know our neighborhood. Crozet is just 15 min. away with a great local grocery as well as a small Natural Food store, the Famous Crozet Pizza (noted in the National Geographic Guide Book, several family and fine dining restaurants, 2 pick your own Orchards, public pool. White Hall Vineyard is just a half a mile up the road from us and there are many close by Vineyards to visit. Visit Innisfree Village Farm to experience beautiful local organic vegetable, herb and flower gardens just a mile up the road on Walnut Level Rd (call Innisfree to arrange a tour).
The Shenandoah National Park Entrance is only minutes away on Sugar Hollow Rd. and offers great hikes, swimming holes and fun rocks to play on for the whole family. Mint Spring Park offers lake swimming with white sandy beach and lifeguards on duty.
We have a 6-acre lake to swim (this is rustic country pond swimming, no fancy white beach swim!) a canoe and 2 other fishing ponds and hiking trails and lots of wildlife! Keep an eye open for Blue heron, black bear, and deer. The beaver often swim just across the bank at the lakes’ over flow and will some times swim up to the canoe.
*Farmer’s Markets on Saturday Morning in both Charlottesville and Crozet.

MONTFAIR'S A-FRAME COTTAGE
Our cozy A-frame air-conditioned cottage is perfect for couples or a small family. A front deck overlooks our tranquil lake. The A-Frame has a fully equipped kitchenette with modern appliances, a living room with double sized futon and gas fireplace, a downstairs bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a loft with two twin beds. All dishes, utensils, linens & towels are provided along with complimentary organic coffee & teas. Books, games, CD/radio, and charcoal grill are provided for a comfortable and relaxing vacation. Walk out your cabin door to the easily accessible trails for fishing, hiking, bird watching and biking. Canoe and mountain bikes are available for guest use. Pet Friendly, please bring a leash.
Montfair is an excellent starting point to tour the area's many places of interest: the University of Virginia, Monticello, James Monroe’s Ash Lawn, the Frontier Culture Museum, neighboring organic farms, the nearby wineries, the Virginia Wildlife Center and galleries, Skyline Drive or Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Foxfield Steeplechase--just to name a few. We are located just ten minutes from the Sugar Hollow Shenandoah National Park entrance and Mormon’s River. |
