Parrott - Santa Fe house keeping cottage - an adobe casita - 20 mins from Santa Fe or Los Alamos, yet in secluded, peaceful country. Child and pet friendly.
While Rancho Jacona's solidly constructed adobe casita, Parrott -- a house-keeping cottage, is near Santa Fe and Los Alamos, it is entirely separate from city life. Our adobe enclave is an oasis of towering cottonwoods, acequias feeding our informal ponds, gardens, statues, mobiles, and barnyard areas of sheep, goats, rabbits, donkeys, geese, and chickens.
Rancho Jacona's Santa Fe vacation rental is part of an old Spanish land grant farm 20 minutes north of Santa Fe, NM in Northern New Mexico; a comfortable rental cottage "home base" providing country tranquility while the cultural offerings of the Santa Fe area still near at hand.
Lying beneath towering cottonwoods in the Pojoaque River Valley, Rancho Jacona looks up at the Jemez Mountains on one side and the Sangre de Cristos on the other. Santa Fe Opera is 15 minutes south, while 7 historic pueblos are also nearby to our rental cottage..
This housekeeping rental cottage is a pueblo-style adobe home, cheerfully decorated and comfortably furnished, with cottonwood shaded patio adjacent to a sunken garden with acequia running through it. Half a century old, this 700 sq. ft. housekeeping cottage near Santa Fe has 1 bedroom with 1 queen bed, 1 queen sofa bed, and room for an additional crib or futon. Jemez Mountain view and patio opening onto gardens. Wood and charcoal grill. Sleeps four.
Rancho Jacona isfamily friendly, pet friendly. Rentals start at 3 days, longer stays save us money on expenses which we pass right on to our guests. Monthly winter stays are welcomed at even greater savings passed on: 52% of the Off Season Weekly rate. The sun has an acute angle in January; the shadows fill in the angle. |

| Guestbook: We just came back from a week at Rancho Jacona where we stayed in Parrot.
The whole spread or compound is a 1700s old adobe estancia with drop dead views of the Jemez Mountains. The house that we rented for our vacation was all adobe, not cutsified - a patio that make you feel that the sun dropped in just for you. It was called Owl House.
These rental houses - they call them casitas - are on about 30 private acres filled with animals (great for our kids) and peacocks that check you out. At night all we could hear was an owl and coyote.
We travel with 2 dogs and they were totally at home. We could take them on hikes down this big arroyo toward the Jemez range. There was a big filed with a whirling mobile in it that neighbors dogs and ours could have a long, gated play.
The kids could wander from the rabbits to the goats to the burros to the geese to the peacocks. They were bug-eyed.
We were 20 minutes from Santa Fe - can't say that we thought the drive a hardship and we never had anything resembling a parking issue. Also we were just an hour from. By the way we even had skiing 20 minutes away at this family style downhill area called Pajarito - it was skiing as I remember it in the 60's. We were keen to go back another day but we also wanted to hit Bandelier.
And, you'll not believe this, but we got fresh eggs every morning from the rare breed hens at Rancho Jacona.
The cost for all this was about $75 a night-- they were running a winter special. I think that the rates are still way low in April.
