You’re always welcome at Hendersyde! Our family farm, which lies between The River Tweed, famous for salmon fishing, and The Eden Water, a haven for wildlife and birds.
The cottages stand in a peaceful position, at the end of their own lane, in the middle of our family farm, where wonderful views stretch to the Cheviot Hills in Northumberland.
Just 2 miles from Kelso, the cottages are in an excellent position to explore both sides of the stunning border country-side.
Kelso must be one of Scotland’s most attractive country towns, standing at the junction of The River Tweed and Teviot Water. It’s cobbled square is surrounded by delightful local shops, places to eat and fascinating walks.
There’s always lots going on in Kelso with events at Springwood Park such as, Championship Dog Shows, The Border Union Agricultural Show and Kelso Tup Sales. Floors Castle, hosts Massed Pipe Bands Competitions, horse trials and holds gardening events. National Hunt racing, curling competions, the common riding, musical, bike and vintage tractor gatherings!!
Nearby golf courses abound! The Roxburghe Championship Course at Hieton. Kelso Golf Course and Race Course are both at the end of the farm road! The Hirsel Course next to the Country Park are only 8 miles away, at Coldstream.
Whether you would like to walk or ride this land of rivers and hills; stroll through gardens such as Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, or Kailzie by Peebles, where Osprey are shown live on web-cam; feel the history of castles, abbeys and great houses: have a day in Edinburgh, cycle quiet roads or hurtle down the mountain bike runs at Glentress, you’ll certainly feel the glow! From the stunning coast, St. Abbs Head, Lindisfarne, The Farne Islands and Bamburgh Castle, to the Border Hills, the space, light and views will take your breath away!
On a creative note - many talented “craftsmen” working with cashmere, wool, wood, glass, clay, metal, pencil and paint, have found inspiration here. Over 80 local craft workshops, galleries and exhibitions, welcome you.
Then you can return to Hendersyde, a genuine home from home! Where you can relax in warmth and comfort! Confident that the cottages will be clean, well cared for and fully equipped. If you need any thing, we live just at the other end of the cottage lane and are more than happy to help! - Sue
