Our house and guest barn conversion is in an area known as one of the last undiscovered places in Europe. Famous for its goat breeding, the valley of Vale do Cobrão has pleasing slopes and terraces with olive, pine and eucalyptus and Portuguese oak, criss-crossed with paths. Vale do Cobrão enjoys mild winters as well as lots of sun. Ideal for walking in the local hills of the Serra das Talhadas on public footpaths, painting, fishing, photography, bird watching or just plain relaxing! Tucked away in a pretty, working, village, surrounded in the traditions of Portuguese country living changed little by the modern world, Jenny and Colin offer a warm welcome. Enjoy a tranquil holiday in beautiful rural Portugal with lots of sun, peaceful surroundings and fresh local produce. Since September 2006, Alem do Mar is at the heart of the UNESCO "Geopark Naturtejo" the first in Portugal and part of a worldwide net of sites of important geological, archaeological, ecological, historic and cultural areas. |

Guestbook: "'The Barn' is the perfect comfortable and well equipped place to start exploring. This is perhaps the holiday we have most enjoyed, the whole region being so completely unspoilt. There are endless villages and walks to explore, the local food is excellent and the people are friendly and welcoming. There is something very healthy in coming to a place and feeling safe." - Angela, Alberto, Katie (11 yrs)& Liam (10 yrs)Dundas from Spain, 30.03.08.
"We visited 'Portas de Rodao -magnificent; 'Vale Mourao' - very nice; Foz do Cobrao" -nice; 'Alcantara' in Spain near Monfortinho - a must see and finally the 'Vale do Cobrao' surroundings with a very beautiful scenery. We hope to return soon." Jorge Sousa & Maria Jose from Porto, Easter 2008.
"Thank you ever so much for a wonderful holiday as usual. It was very fun and lovely." Lottie (11 yrs) came with her Mum and Dad from UK, 29.05.08
"It has been great to get away from the stress and hassle to this lovely area of Portugal with all the birds and flowers, peace and quite and wonderful scenery." Steve & Elaine from UK, May 2008
Nelson, Sandra & Daniella from Lisbon, June 2008 (We liked our relaxing week's holiday very much and the village and accommodation are very typical. The accommodation has everything to be comfortable. We liked Foz do Cobrao very much - the restaurant is very good. The suggestions in the visitors' guidebooks are very useful.) |
