OVERVIEW
Charming Traditional Greek Cottage - Near Fantastic Beach Cove! Located in a wonderful authentic village, this cottage is a picturesque and charming house dating from 1923. Recently remodeled, the cottage is eclectically furnished with a mix of modern, rustic and antique pieces. There's a patio area and a pergola overhead practically dripping with grapes offering shade. Everyone enjoys the beautiful garden with it’s palms, yuccas, orange and lemon trees. Vines of jasmine climb nearby lending their striking fragrance to this tranquil spot. We are certain that all who visit will feel the lovely energy of this place and become charmed by it. Upon entering the cottage, you discover a small corridor paneled in white-washed pine. Immediately to the left is a cabinet convenient for storing shoes and on the right hooks for beach bags and hats. The door to the right leads to the master bedroom. Decorated in cool tones of beige and gray, it is a relaxing and luxurious refuge. The antique Italian brass bed features hand-stuffed wool mattresses and the finest Italian linens for your comfort. This bedroom us equipped with air-conditioning/heating, satellite and local TV, CD and DVD player. To the left of the corridor is the other room which can be used either as a lounge or as a second bedroom. There is a single bed which converts to a double when needed. Guestbook: Hestia is a property management outfit run out of the small village of Dorizata in Kefalonia. The young couple who rent these several villas (all in different areas) are gracious, charming and helpful in providing all the comfort and information that any guest could want. As she is an American and he is half Greek, half Italian-- they are expertly able to acommodate and communicate with visitors from many different backgrounds. Check out the website:

I rented their small house "Katie's Cottage" in Dorizata and couldn't have been happier. This charmingly rennovated space felt like it was brand new. It comes equipped with a spacious kitchen great for cooking, an immaculate bathroom and a huge, cozy bed in a lovely bedroom-- there is also a fold out couch in a small living room- so that this house could easily sleep 4 people. The terrace is canvased with hanging grape vines that in August offer up the juiciest sweet green and red grapes I've ever tasted. A giant table rests just underneath these vines, making for a wonderful outdoor dining area. In the high season, expect to pay something in the neigborhood of 200 Euros a week-- a fabulous deal for anywhere in Greece.

The area isn't swarming with tourists either. Dorizata is the real deal when it comes to a small and genuine Greek village. If you're lucky, the property owners will give you a personal background on the village that is full of true characters. The beach is a 15 minute walk away and there is a bus stop for a route that runs around the island a few times a day just down the road.
