Puerto Plata Beaches

Playa Dorada Beach - This slightly rocky beach is one of the best near the city, with warm water and many palm trees providing some shelter from the hot sunny days. This is a great place to take the whole family for a fun and relaxing day in the sun. There are massage ladies that walk around the ebach offering massages at $15 for a half an hour massage.

Paradise Beach - This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Puerto Plata, with very clean water and calm seas. There are many locals walking around the beach selling souvinirs, and there is a bar on the beach providing refreshments and entertainment. If you're not comfortable with topless women, you'll have to give this beach a miss.

Cafe Cito - Sosua Highway. This is the best restaurant in town and is situated just out of Playa Dorada, and is popular with both locals and tourists. They serve a range of excellent local dishes at cery reasonable prices. The filet mignon is highly recommended.

Jardin Suizo - Located in Malecon. This smart but relaxed restaurant is one of the best in Malecon and is located near the waterfront. They serve a range of excellent international cuisine, specializing in seafood dishes. The food is great and the prices are reasonable.

Sam's Bar & Grill - Ariza 34. This good value restaurant is a popular meeting place for tourists new to the area. They serve a wide range of international food, with good value daily specials. The American breakfasts and philly cheese steak are highly recommended.

Andromeda - Heavens Hotel. This large and modern night club is one of the most popular clubs in town, and is frequented by a mixed crowd of locals and tourists alike. The dance floor is huge and they play mostly Dominican music. This is a great place to go and have fun the Dominican way.

Hemingway's Cafe - Playa Dorada Plaza. This cafe is one of the most popular hang out spots for tourists looking for a good time. Friday night's karaoke are the most popular, and Thursdays and Saturdays are rock 'n' roll nights. This is the place to go if you want to meet up wth some fellow tourists and swap stories about your adventures.

La Barrica - Circunvalacion Sur and Av Colon. This hip and ultra cool night club is very popular with the city slickers who aer looking to have a good time and dance up a storm. They play only Dominican disco music, great for a night out the Dominican way. The club doesn't have any lights and the waiters use flashlights, which creates an amazing atmosphere.
