The small village of Els Reguers is only 3 minutes drive away where you will find surprisingly good restaurants and bars. Its village shops provide local produce & will cover any day to day needs. Supermarkets are another 10 minutes away located in the towns of Roquetes & medieval Tortosa (situated on the banks of the mighty River Ebro). Present day Tortosa has numerous interesting shops as well as a vibrant covered market. It also prides itself in celebrating special fiestas full of folklore & old traditions. Celebrity chef Rick Stein has also visited Tortosa to sample its Catalan culinary delights. The house is also well placed to enable you to leave your car behind & explore the local area on foot & is within a short drive of many of the Els Ports Natural Park trails.
The nearest beaches are within 30 minutes drive. They are blue flag resorts located either side of the Ebro Delta Natural Park. On its northern side is L'Ampolla, with rocky coves, ideal for snorkelling, & plentiful fish restaurants. On the southern side is Sant Carles de la Rapita with family beaches, renowned restaurants, pleasant shops & its busy fishing fleet. The Ebro Delta hosts 15 miles of unspoilt sandy beaches.
Guided walking holidays in the mountains of the Els Ports Natural Park & guided birdwatching holidays using both the Ebro Delta & Els Ports Natural parks can be arranged.
Barcelona is only 2 hours car/train journey away & can be enjoyed on a day's visit. It has fine shopping districts and street markets, also an impressive Gothic cathedral & Gaudi's Sagrada Familia. The Roman city of Tarragona - located within 1 hours drive/train journey overlooksthe Med Sea & has pleasant shopping areas & outdoor cafes.

Guestbook: 'Thanks for making us feel very welcome & for organizing a great week for us. Things we liked best:- bombing in the rock pools; fans in bedrooms; cold red wine; using sticks to get down from La Moleta; the pool; roast almonds; fresh figs from the garden; griffon vultures; sunshine! We've had a great time.' Alison, Keith, Sam & Jack Fletcher, Sheffield, UK Aug 08
'Thank you both for helping us to 'discover' this wonderful part of Catalunya - it has been a revelation. We hope all those who discover it in the future treat it with as much love & respect as you obviously do. We loved walking with you to the top of the 'tooth' and look forward to our next excursion.' Mike & Gill Wyatt, Rutland, UK Oct 07
Thanks very much for your kind and thoughtful hospitality. We loved 'Casa P' and really enjoyed our two days out in the delta and the mountains. Will miss fresh apricots off the tree for breakfast and your almonds. Look forward to coming back and will spread the word.' David Grimes & Julie Rogers, Wrexham, UK. June 07
'A wonderful place and superb hosts! We enjoyed both our trips greatly. We much enjoyed a walk up the valley from the house and the evenings in the immediate area. Many thanks indeed!' Jon & Gill Epstein, London, UK. May 07
'Thank you for a very memorable week - your hospitality, help & advice have enriched our holiday enormously & we look forward to returning to sample another season.' Nigel & Caroline Brown, University of Wales, Bangor, UK. June 06 |
