Our cabin is built of kelo logs and is fully insulated to be cosy all year round.
Opening directly into dense forest it is the perfect location for a relaxing break all year round, yet offers endless possibilities for activities and adventure.
Akaslompolo nestles at the base of Yllas Fell, Lapland's largest ski resort, and with snow from November to early May offers months of skiing and snowboarding on glorious snow. Combine this with snowmobiles, sleigh rides, huskies and ice fishing and you have the perfect winter destination. To round off a perfect trip at Christmastime, Santa will be in his house in the Lapp Village just meters from the cabin and his reindeer will be wandering through the forest outside your window.
From May through to September Lapland experiences wonderful sunny days with almost twenty four hour daylight. Akaslompolo is on the shores of a lake and this, combined with the rivers rushing with the melting snow, provides an array of water based activities from boating and fishing to white water rafting.
Situated on the edge of the Pallas National Park there is easy access to vast areas of wilderness stretching north towards the North Pole and boastng a network of well marked hiking trails equipped with wilderness huts and barbecue areas. For the novice walker the village and Yllas Fell provide several well marked trails beginning from the well equipped Visitor Centre. Graded according to difficulty and dotted with activities for children the trails are well maintained with duck board over difficult terrain.At regular intervals you will find huts with barbecue areas and woodpiles. |
