Magnolia House Inn was built as his private residence in 1868 by William Pole, the builder of the beautiful Lee Chapel on the Washington and Lee University campus. An example of the Shenandoah Victorian style, the house boasts high ceilings, tall windows, many fireplaces, and several porches. Guests may enjoy the parlor, the dining room, the Hospitality Room—stocked with cold drinks and snacks, including Jan's homemade cookies—and the front porches on both levels overlooking the garden. Enhanced with antiques and traditional furnishings, the inn reflects the gracious warmth of Victorian elegance, combined with the casual comforts of today.
Located on Main Street in Lexington's Historic District, Magnolia House Inn is a short walk from the quaint downtown restaurants and shops, the Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson Memorials, the campuses of both Washington and Lee University and Virginia Military Institute, and the Lexington Visitors Center. Nearby are the Virginia Horse Center, Natural Bridge, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. |
