Let me begin with ...that my husband and I stayed there the week of New Year's...and it truly was an adventure we'll never forget.
Now...we stayed four days...arrived early and was greeted warmly...we stayed in Red Thunder and had thee most magnificent view...the room was cozy and utterly romantic.
The breakfasts were OOOH la la! Elegant...international...and FUN! We loved chatting with Mark and Matthew and EVEN HAD A DEER SAUNTER PAST THE WINDOW! One morning as we waited in the Library till breakfast was
ready...my husband turns to me and says,"This is what it must feel
like to be rich!" Warming our hearts with cocoa as someone makes you a delectable meal...
Service...Mark planned our trips...he's better than AAA...marked our maps...gave suggestions...offered us anything and everything!
Nothing to do??? We read...cuddled...walked...took pictures...took long delightful drives on winding roads...hiked to Glen Falls (holy crap that was fun!) Walked around town...ate at the Fireside and Fresser's...watching a nearby tubing place make snow...FUN IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!!! Only to return to the warmth of Fire Mountain and the coccoon of our room to watch the sunset...and sip champange...
We loved it there and hope to make the long trek back very soon and explore all the nooks and crannies we hadn't uncovered on this past trip!

I was looking for a quiet mountain retreat to celebrate my husband's birthday, and boy did I find it and whole lot more! Fire Mountain Inn had gorgeous views, outstanding service, and a very well appointed private cabins. (There are other accommodations, but I can't speak to them.) There are kitchens if you choose to cook, but you can also have your gourmet breakfast delivered to the door. There was a wood burning fireplace with accoutrements, a deck for outdoor dining, and a large jacuzzi tub inside. There is also a hot tub on site, again, we didn't utilize this amenity.
Additionally, I wished to arrange a fishing trip for my husband, and the staff had it all in place without any effort on my part. Fire Mountain Inn is located just outside of downtown Highlands, far enough to be out of town without having to drive a great deal to get to great shopping and restaurants. We already are planning our next trip! |
