Guestbook: First off, let me say that the Innkeepers, Larry & Ruth Stoll made our experience at the Atwood House a wonderful experience. It is easy to see the time, love, and effort they put into their B&B. My wife and I stayed in the Frank Little Suite which is decorated in beautiful cherry wood and has a private in-room shower and clawfoot tub. The bed was by far the most comfortable one I have slept in at any type of lodging for travel/vacation. The 3-course breakfast begins with fresh fruit followed by fresh muffins and finally the main course. The presentation of the food provides the final touch to a wonderful breakfast (FYI, Larry and Ruth are open to serving breakfast anytime between 7 and 11 to meet your schedule). If my wife and I visit Lincoln in the future, we will definitely attempt to book our lodging at the Atwood House.
We decided to stay here for a mini vacation away from home and a deserving break from the "real" world. It was very lovely with all the dried flowers and antiques about the house. It really brought you back to the time period in eloquent style. The room was home away from home with plush bathrobes & Godiva chocolates! You had run of the kitchen for evening snacks and the morning breakfast was most delicious. I would recommend this highly to anyone wanting a romantic get-away or just a place to escape for the evening!
We have stayed in this place on two occasions. It is centrally located in a beautifully restored 1843 home. There are four well-appointed rooms, and the entire facility is well-kept and very attractive. The grounds to the rear of the house are also unusually attractive. The proprietor, Bill Hirsch, is very hospitable and serves a very good breakfast.
Let's face it, Lincoln isn't exactly a beautiful city. But staying here made the city that much nicer. In a quiet neighborhood, minutes driving distance from the cute Haymarket area, this B&B has very friendly owners who greet you with a smile. The Frank Little suite was quite spacious, and the king bed there is probably one of the most comfortable ones I've ever slept in (if you like soft beds). I'm a very light sleeper, and I slept like a rock. Breakfast in the morning was spectacular (pineapple boats with sugared raspberries, homemade cranberry muffins and carmelized peach french toast with sausage, fresh coffee and juice). Clean and quiet, this is a place I'll surely return to if I ever need to pass through Lincoln again. Don't waste your money on a chain hotel when you can stay here!
