The Old School has been sensitively converted and tastefully decorated to retain many of its traditional features thus providing a contrasting atmosphere of old and new. This large family home with its air of informal luxury is open all year offering a comfortable and relaxing stay. A network of newly opened footpaths and bridleways around us offer a unique link from Snowdon along the classic Nantlle Ridge Walk to the contrasting Lleyn Peninsular and Bardsey Island. Nearby Lon Eifion, now part of the Sus-Trans cycle network, is a safe, quiet and attractive route for walkers, cyclists and wheelchair users. It follows the old railway line from Caernarfon to Bryncir with a link to Criccieth along quiet country lanes. Tremadog lies a few miles awry , a busy centre for climbers all year round. For the les energetic visitor the beaches and marinas of Criccieth, Pwllheli and Abersoch are well worth a visit. The North Coast of the Lleyn Peninsular has many hidden coves to explore. Further north the Island of Anglsey is well within an hours drive. You will find secluded beaches almost empty even in July. The historic town of Caernarfon with its Royal connections has much to offer- the castle, museums, harbour, airport offering pleasure flights, the newly opened Welsh Highland Railway and many other attractions. Within easy drives are the Castles of Beaumaris, Conway and Harlech. Thee road South takes you to Porthmadog, a bustling town with its Maritime museum, Ffestiniog Narrow Guage Railway and Black Rock Sands nearby. The magical Italianate village of Portmeirion is a short distance from Porthmadog-an ideal place for a leisurely day out. To maximise your enjoyment of the area advice is available for all activities. If required, instruction and equipment can be arranged. Wherever your interests lie, this area has much to offer – the glorious scenery, the fascinating heritage and history, the wealth of activities and innumerable attraction for all ages to give our visitors a Taste for Wales. Although the weatherman may forecast rail on the mountains, here, across the valley on the edge of the Lleyn Peninsular,the sun often shines!
