OVERVIEW
Set in the rural village of Coaltown of Balgonie, Hollytree Bed and Breakfast a 3* rated enjoys the tranquility of a country village. However, with two major towns Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes on it's doorstep, has some of the best shopping in Fife.

There are some 20 golf courses all within 1/2 an hours drive ranging from links courses such as St Andrews, Lundin Links, and Leven. To taxing courses the likes of Ladybank, Balbirnie, and Glenrothes.

Water skiing, sailing and wind surfing are all catered for again only minutes away by car.

Sightseeing in the Kingdom of Fife is marvellous, from the Forth Bridge on the West to St Andrews on the East. Cupar is in the middle and a visit to the ancient town of Falkland is a must. Falkland boasts one of the best kept palaces in Scotland. A gentle walk up Falkland hill (or to be exact East Lomond) is not to be missed as you can see the start of the Cairngorms in the North to a view over the River Forth to Edinburgh in the South.

Fife is a cyclist and walkers dream as you have some wonderful walks on the coast. Also some of the most scenic walks near Stirling and Dollar Glen. Then North of Fife to Newburgh and Tayport. The beaches of the North East coast are not to be missed as is a visit to St Andrews, Kingsbarns and the fishing towns of Crail and Anstruther.

Cyclist can enjoy the wonders of the Kingdom on the Fife Millennium Cycle Way with over 300 miles (500km) of safe and signed cycle route which was completed in April 2002, and forms one of the UK’s most comprehensive cycle networks. The routes have been developed over a 4 year period for recreational and commuter cycling with all ages, abilities and types of cyclist in mind. The Kingdom Route also forms the Fife section of National Cycle Network Route 1 and the North Sea Cycle Route.

Terrain varies from off road disused railway tracks to routes in forests and from networks in towns to networks along quiet country lanes. Enticing all from the gentle family cyclist to the serious road racer, the mountain biking adrenaline seeker to the active commuter.

The unique Fife Cycle Way's signs and colour maps will help even the new cyclist get the most from their day.
