Merlewood Cottage is a particularly attractive house that is the home of Alick and Peggie Whittle and, from here, this welcoming couple offer superb bed and breakfast accommodation.Both guest rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished, with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside, have private or en-suite bathrooms and one even has a balcony.Alick's home-cooked, hearty breakfast is served in either the family kitchen or on the terrace that overlooks the cottage's delightful garden and the surrounding countryside beyond.The owners, Peggie and Alick Whittle, are friendly and welcoming. They are very knowledgeable about the surrounding area, and guests are received with a hot drink. While visiting the B&B you are encouraged to enjoy the delightful garden, and the thirteenth-century church is well worth a visit. There is also a charming thirteenth-century pub in the village, which serves excellent food. Totnes is two miles away and this is also an ideal base for exploring Dartmoor and coastal beaches. |

| Guestbook: We stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful stay. Alick and Peggy we're very welcoming and the breakfast was superb. We had the room with a small balcony and a beautiful view over the village. One night we ate in the local 13th Century pub (only a 5 min walk) which is really worth a visit. There are also some great walks to do locally. We'll definitley be going back to stay again sometime. |
