Discover one of the "hidden places" of Kent and yest still be only minutes away from some of its' best known and most famous attractions with this friendly and welcoming bed & breakfast.
Tucked away deep in the Weald countryside behind the tiny hamlet of Charcott, the old farmhouse is typical of the local Kentish architecture and, no longer a working farm, now forms part of a peaceful homestead surrounded by open fields.
The 3 twin bedrooms are attractively furnished with pretty traditional country fabrics and have either en-suite or private bathroom facilities. Each room has ample clothes storage space, fully adjustable central heating, tea & coffee-making facilities, hairdryer & mineral water.
Downstairs the old converted bake-house (still complete with the old brick bread oven) provides guests with a small sitting room with colour TV where they can relax over a cup of tea. In summer and whenever possible, tea is generally served outside in the garden on the brick terrace to the west of the farmhouse.
Breakfast is served in the dining room around the old oak refrectory table with individual choices and timings to suit. Menus vary from a simple continental for those with a smaller appetite to fried eggs with home-cooked ham, sausages, mushrooms & tomatoes, scrambled eggs & smoked salmon, kippers, home-made waffles with maple syrup, poached eggs wih bacon and tomatoes and all accompanied by mounds of home made bread, jam and marmalade. Cereals and home-made yoghurt are of course available from the sideboard and tea and fresh filter coffee is supplied to order. All products are organic and, wherever possible, locally sourced and special diets can generally be catered for providing enough advance notice is given.
For evening meals the local Greyhound Pub is a five minute walk down the drive and for those wanting to venture further afield there are numerous other local hostelries.
Children & pets are welcome by arrangement and it should be noted there are 3 resident cats and a beloved old and very friendly collie/labrador.
Hosts Nicholas & Ginny are friendly and welcoming, full of local knowledge and information and will do their best to make sure you have an enjoyable break with many happy memories to take home with you! |
