The property was built in approximately 1895 from land purchased from His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and has been run as a guest house since the tourist boom in Looe of the early 1950s. We have a selection of twin, double, single or family bedrooms. All are equipped with colour television, hospitality trays, luxurious toiletries, clock alarm radio and most have either sea or river views. Within the hotel you will find a comfortable lounge with satellite colour television and separate sun lounges where you can just relax and watch the world go by. Our dining room overlooks the beach and we offer a choice of full English or continental style breakfasts which will set you up for the day. There are many fabulous restaurants, cafes and Inns in Looe but we also provide a very tempting menu of home-cooked food in the evenings for those guests that have had a packed day and just wish to unwind at the Hotel.
We have so many activities to see and do nearby including golf, horse-riding, canoeing, surfing, and swimming, and if gardens are your bag then you’re in the right county. Cornwall has many stunning and award-winning gardens for you to visit and admire. The world-renowned Eden Project is only half an hour away by road. Or, why not take a boat trip round to Polperro on the ‘Smugglers’ cruise and then walk back on the South West Coastal path. If you fancy trying your hand at diving then the renowned Looe Dive Centre will be on hand to provide tuition and advice. If you want the shopping experience then look no further than Plymouth City Centre just 20 miles away with the Drake’s Circus shopping centre recently opened you can be sure of a 21st Century shopping experience. While in Plymouth you could visit the National Marine Aquarium which boasts the largest fish tank in Europe. All this, plus many other attractions means you are spoilt for choice during your visit. |

Looe: The Gulls Hotel: "Home from Home"
5 Aug 2006 juicylucy2, Oxford
I have just returned from a week at the Gulls Hotel having booked on the basis of a reviewer from sussex. I can only agree that it is a good find - especially as I have a little poodle (Lucy) who was especially made welcome. I had had problems in finding somwhere that would take me and Lucy. I got the room with the terrace - fantastic for her - somewhere for her to roam around. Lorraine and elsie couldn't have made me feel more at home. My first trip alone but I needn't have worried. They also prepared evening meals for me as I didn't feel brave enough to go out on my own. I can certainly say it is a great place for the lone traveller to stay - there is so much to see and do nearby, then coming back knowing I had a meal being prepared and then chilling out on the balcony (thank god for the sun) made me feel really relaxed. Will be returning as soon as work will allow! |
