“Very special B&B in the Wine Country”
Villa Flora Bed & Breakfast is a perfect place for those of you who want to feel the difference between renting a non-descript hotel room and staying in a stylish house of 320 m 2 + a wonderful very private and very calm garden. With other interesting travellers looking for a more authentic lodging experience.
This lovely B&B is located in the old centre of Branik village just under the castle Rihemberk and close to vineyards, forests… wonderful to go for a run in the morning. Branik village is very well situated: 15 min drive from Italian border, 30 min from the sea (Italian coast where we just had a swim), 40 min to the caves, 45 min to the Alps where we went for a picnic to a spectacular place by the Soca river, 1 hour to Ljubljana and even just about an hour from Venice!!!
I am my second time at Villa Flora. I love this place. My first time was last year in September. I wanted to visit the Wine Country. And it was much more than that. Tjasa – the owner of Villa Flora arranged for us, that we also went grape harvesting. That was such un unforgetable experience.
Villa Flora is a place where time has stopped. Old atmospheres. Tjasa carefully renovated and modernised some parts of the building, but most of the villa is keep in its orinal state. The original Art Deco furniture. We slept both times in the original master's bedroom. The "Green room". It is a big room on the second floor with a spacious bathroom. The matresses are new and very comfortable. The breakfasts are big, typical Slovenian, with slovenian pancakes (palachinke) and shmorn – ( apparently the Emperor's breakfast from the time when Slovenia was part of Austria and the Emperor was of the Habsburg family and lived in Vienna.)
Also the yogurts and meuslis served at Villa Flora are delightfull, with fruits from the garden (we had strawberries and cherries) and different honeys from local farmers.
This year accomodation has been extended, and another four rooms added to the ground floor, as well as a lovely dinning room, all decorated with antique Slovenian furniture and Tjasa's paintings. An accomplished Slovenian artist, Tjasa's paintings adds a vibrant contemporary touch to the establishment.
Tjasa is a very warm and caring person, with a dynamic personality. Her English is very good, and she has a wealth of knowledge on art, Slovenian history and local tourism.
Together with Dolores, the housekeeper, they took excellent care of us.
I highly recommend this Bed & Breakfast to everybody.
“We loved the B&B and Tjasa was terrific”

Sorry it has taken so long to recommend the Villa Flora! It's a lovely place, and the innkeeper is a wealth of information. She personally took us up to the castle, served wonderful breakfasts, made dinner reservations, and sent us to fabulous wineries. Excellent 4 days!
