The LocandaThe Locanda is a perfect location for a holiday immersed in emblematic Tuscan panoramas, but at the heart of the historical centre of Montepulciano, just a few steps from Piazza Grande.
The rooms and the services.
The 4 rooms of the Locanda are situated on the first floor and are fitted with independent air conditioning, bar fridge, 21” LCD satellite TV, DVD Player and Internet connection.
Beds are queen or king size and each room is personalised with sophisticated and exclusive furnishings. High quality parquet floors and elegant fabrics add to the atmosphere.
Most of the roomy bathrooms have large windows with the same views that can be admired from the rooms. They feature large shower stalls (1.8 m x 1 m), are equipped with hair dryers and universal power sockets with courtesy Hermès toiletries.
The large reception room situated on the ground floor features a cross vaulted ceiling, sitting room, substantial library, lounge bar for guest enjoyment and is used for guest breakfasts.
The wine bar
The “…e lucevan le stelle” wine bar-bistrot and La Locanda di San Francesco are run by a winemaker family, and situated in the same palazzo that faces onto Piazza San Francesco.
Most of the wines on offer in this elegant wine bar are from Tuscany's best estates, and they are complemented by a knowing selection of Italian and French wines.
The ".. e lucevan le stelle" wine- bar, whose stone walls reveal traces of ancient windows and 14th century arches, is the perfect setting for striking art exhibitions and live jazz. |

La Locanda di San Francesco occupies what was once the "Oratorio di Sant’Emidio e della Misericordia", rising above the ancient city walls that surround the oldest part of Montepulciano. It is attached to the 14th century Church of San Francesco,and dominates the square of the same name, which has a wonderful view on Val D'Orcia.
Careful restoration, commissioned and supervised with great passion by the present owners, has brought to life the historic gothic portal of the church, secret rooms and ancient bell towers, giving new life to the building and the whole square.
The Locanda is just few steps from Piazza Grande, the Duomo, the best restaurants in towm, the Poliziano theatre.
