San Frediano Mansion...
....A voyage through Renaissance Florence
ROOM FOR RENT IN THE CENTRE OF FLORENCE.
Our BED AND BREAKFAST is located in an important historic building, erected in the XV century.
The ancient history of the building is documented also by the beautiful fresco at the ground floor, representing St Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus.
The building was enlarged in the XVIII century by Capponi family, marquises of Florence.
During the XIX century the building was transformed according to neo-renaissance Style.
The interiors still conserve notable decorations and frescos. The building also gives access to the back garden (Lungarno Sederini). The parterres still conserve the original XIX century design.

Welcome Pack: In ancient times Florence was protected by the Walls surrounding it. Access was possible only through the massive gates that can still be seen around the city. Porta San Frediano, the entrance to the old town is one of those gates.
It was built in 1324. The Medicean marble escutcheon is still visible. It is possible to reach Porta San Frediano by going along via Pisana. San Frediano is one of the most important places of Diladdarno, the most traditional and intact district in Florence: it is characterized by the elegance of San Niccolò, the animated Santo Spirito, and the characteristic San Frediano.
Diladdarno is Florence’s “Rive Gauche”, a special world made of shops, craftsmen studios, elegant antique shops, jewellers’, mosaic and wood carving studios...
Florence's magnificent past lives on in San Frediano, through the historic and artistic documents, the daily life, the shops inheritors of a century-old handiwork, in the traditional “trattorie” restaurants, where it is possible to taste the original Florence cookery, and in its wit. |
