| Les Eaux Tranquilles is situated at the northern end of the spectacular Gorge la Pierre-Lys (now officially protected as an area of outstanding beauty) some 320 metres above sea level which is some 200 metres below the winter snow line. This makes us ideally located for both summer and winter vacations. Our grounds comprise of a large 0.75 hectare/2 acre (private) park which is bordered by the river Aude that rises in the Pyrenees and flows down to the sea at Narbonne (a hour and a half away). Amply stocked with both trout and salmon the river was visited by Robert Redford who stayed nearby a few years back. During his stay he read a book called "And a River Ran Through It". Seeing the Aude and watching it on its relentless journey to the sea he felt obligated to translate the book into a world famous film by the same name in which he starred.
Every other year we are visited by the Tour de France which passes at the top of our road.

Guestbook: I stepped out of the car and was immediately struck by the peace of the garden and the sound of the river. The piece and hospitality continued. "I said hello and waved goodbye" Marc Almond (Soft Cell English pop group)
"What a wonderful home for us to spend 6 days while we hike and explore Pays Cathars. I had no idea this Aude - Pyrenees region was so beautiful. Truly a great holiday and Chris and Pat just added to our pleasure and knowledge and were so flexible in meeting our idiosyncratic needs!! Finding a space for our daughter, Hob Nobs (ed - sourced daughters favourite English biscuit during stay), Herald Tribune (ed - we supply international news papers at cost) etc and Chris's stories - you have to hear them. Forever full of stories from Ian Drury to the Queen Mothers Corgis. Hopefully we'll be back and in the meantime may you both have many more years in this earthly paradise." John Allan - Canada, Robert Stuckey - USA
"Les Eaux Tranquilles has been a revelation. Our usual self-catering holidays may well be a thing of the past! Wonderful room, delightful setting, delicious food and great company" Paula and Andy - UK
"Although we will leave tomorrow we will go relaxed and loaded up with truly fond memories, firstly your kindness and boundless generosity. We loved our room and the open house atmosphere which you both create so well and some of the great food to boot. Thanks too for the advice on where to visit. We loved everything about our stay with you and will definitely be back." John and Liz Ellison - UK
"A lovely 'double act' in an excellent setting. Cheers for the entertaining exchanges and delightful 'slow food'. A much needed antidote to the Anglo Saxon illusion." Steve and Beverly Haigh
"I've been so well looked after, good food, great company, magical setting, blissfully comfortable bed. Chris and Pat - your hospitality knows no bounds. You seem to have thought of everything your guests might need or want." Liane - USA
