Ianthe Roper and Richard Barter welcome you to Chezfreddie, a traditional Charentais house in a quiet village, offering bed and breakfast or flexible packages for groups. We are open all year.
We are situated in one of the sunniest regions in France, within easy reach of the Atlantic coast. The airports of Poitiers and La Rochelle are less than an hour’s drive away.
The large house has double, twin or triple bedrooms sleeping 13 adults or children. For smaller children, an additional two cots can be provided. All bedrooms are en-suite, centrally heated and furnished to a high standard. Chezfreddie’s accommodation is equally suited to family holidays or special interest groups. We are open all year.
The 1.5 acre garden offers an 11x5 metre salt water swimming pool, level playing area for games such as badminton, boules and table-tennis, and a secluded orchard where you can chill out beside the river Boutonne.
Whether your hobby is bird-watching, history, music, fishing, or cycling in gently undulating Poitou-Charentes countryside, you will find Chezfreddie to be a relaxing and comfortable venue. A wide range of local attractions are within easy reach.

The Atlantic coast is within an hour's drive, with the towns of La Rochelle and Rochefort within easy reach. The theme park Futuroscope, near the mediaeval town of Poitiers, is about an hour's drive to the north. |

All bedrooms are on the first floor and have en-suite facilities.

• Family room: 1 king-size bed and 1 single bed, en-suite shower, basin, WC. Additional cot can be provided if required.
• Bedroom 5: 1 double bed, en-suite shower and basin, shared WC
• Bedroom 6: 2 twin beds, en-suite shower and basin, shared WC
The ground floor comprises:
• Dining-room (5 x 7.5 metres) with table seating 12, tea/coffee-making facilities, wood-burning stove (logs supplied in winter), collection of books and board games.
• Guest lounge with TV, DVD/video player, large video collection, music centre.
• Large, fully-fitted kitchen with 5-burner gas stove, microwave and fridge-freezer
• Utility room with dishwasher, washing machine (7kg capacity), tumble dryer, iron and ironing board
• Bathroom with bath/shower, WC.
The garden covers a total of 6000m2 (approx 1.5 acres), with shady front lawn where we eat out warm weather, a level playing area (badminton, football, boules, table tennis, table football, darts and bicycles available for guests’ use), and a salt water swimming pool, 11x5 metres with roman steps, and 1.5 metres deep throughout. Sun-loungers are available on the surrounding patio, and there are changing facilities, a shower and WC in the adjoining pool house.
There is a barbeque in the garden which all guests are welcome to use.
At the far end of the garden a secluded orchard leads down to the river Boutonne, a class 1 fishing river.
