| The town of Jarabacoa is situated on 600 mts/1800 ft. altitude about 20 minutes driving time away from La Vega and 45 minutes from Santiago (de los Caballeros). It is a town that maintains the whole year round an enjoyable, fresh but warm climate in this official Dominican health-resort. Many wealthy Dominicans from all corners of this country spend their vacations here or made Jarabacoa their second home. Apart from multiple possibilities to bath and swim in the clean rivers and by the waterfalls many activities include Hiking (for instance three day expeditions to the "Pico Duarte",--the highest peak in the Caribbean), Horsebackriding, Canyoning, Rafting, Canoeing and Kayaking take place in and around Jarabacoa . There is also a golf-course with a connected tennis-court.
On the weekends residents of all ages meet in the centre of town-"El Parque Duarte"-to dance, eat and drink in central locations . Quite often also free live-concerts of popular Bachata-and Merengue musicians are performed here.

| Guestbook: Tim had expected a couple from Belgium, but he found us at the meeting point: the two sisters from Belgium. Together with a friend he had come to pick us up. The conversation during the car ride went very well, in English. The house of Jarabacoa guesthouse where we stayed was beautiful. We each had a room with double bed and a bathroom with shower, toilet and washing table. Each day our bed was made and the whole guesthouse was very clean. The windows all had protection against the mosquitoes.
Each morning we had breakfast on the roof terrace with breathtaking view, for a very economical price. Tim was always at our service when we needed something. One afternoon we accompanied him to a swimming pool with bar, where the view was absolutely amazing. We also visited an orchid farm, and our visit to the local coffee factory was very interesting. Our daytrip to the national park is also very recommendable.
Tim brought us in contact with the local people and he drove us past magnificent landscapes. We were even invited to go to the carwash, where drinks and music were a must. Since the Jarabacoa guesthouse is within walking distance from the city centre, we were never bored. During free moments we went into town to look around the many small shops.
We won’t easily forget the almost daily evening talks and Tim’s life wisdom. The barbecue evening was also very nice and special, with dance and bachata music. We also want to thank Tim’s wife Alexandra, who is very lively, and the children who were very polite. Our special thanks also to Alexandra’s mom, who always took care of the tasty and varied breakfast.
We hadn’t expected that much kindness straight from the heart. We miss those beautiful days and moments and are already looking forward to going back. Therefore: see you soon and thanks for the hospitality!
