The town still is a traveller’s oasis on the main routes to the interior and the coast. Here the N1 from Johannesburg to Cape Town and the N9 from Port Elizabeth and the Garden Route meet. The Colesberg-Kemper Museum with its 19th century toy collection, memorabilia, and also the permanent house of the UNISA Karoo Nomad Photographic Exhibition, together with Anglo-Boer War sites and a fine selection of 19th century buildings, offers an exciting reflection on the past and present. Other facilities include excellent restaurants, a nine-hole golf course, tennis, cycling and walking routes, bird-watching and unique sunrises and sunsets.

| Guestbook: This was the best guest house that we stayed in in South Africa. The setting was wonderful, the welcome and service made us feel like royalty, and the breakfast was second to none. It was not only comfortable and welcoming, but memorable. William ODLING-sMEE, Ireland |
