Bargain hunt in the Crawford Market, the area known as "Thieves Market" is perfect for scratching around amonst the junk for a genuine bargain. India is famous for its beautiful textiles, jewelry and perfumes. Mumbai in particular is known for it's well priced quality leather craft that can be purchased in the Oberoi Shopping centre and other shops on the Apollo Bunder.
Mumbai Restaurants and Bars
As to be expected of a coastal city many of the traditional dishes are seafood such as squid, lobster and prawns. These are often cooked with coconut and spices to make a delicious curry. The flat pomfret fish is a regular on the menu and is often served steamed in banana leaf. Dhansak, which is a meat and lentil dish, is also popular in this region
Unusual vegetables such as sour kokum, jackfruit and the scarlet banana flower are favourite delicacies and coconut features in many meals and desserts.

Palkhi - 15 Walton Rd. Their delicous kebabs are a well kept secret to those in the know.
Apoorva - Noble Chambers. Everything is scrumptious at this restaurant which specialises in seafood. Highly recommended are the prawns or crab and the Kerala region seafood dishes.
Bayview - Hotel Marine Plaza. Enjoy the sea view during a lunch or dinner buffet. Balmy sea breezes and good food- the colonials knew they were onto a good thing!
