Sensuchi - Poru Tota road. Good food and very reasonably priced. Ideal if you dont want to spend too much on food.

Negombo Beach Shopping

There are many curio stalls near the larger hotels and are great for a variety of souvenirs. From kitch T-shirts and fridge magnets to basketware and hand crafts.

Chandi Schneiderei and Schneiderei Gaffal on Lewis Place make tailor made suits from cotton and silk in 48 hours. Visit the local fish market for great fresh fish or Davids supermarket for wonderful spices including cinnamon for which Negombo is famous for.

Negombo Beach Beaches

Negombo Beach - a characteristic old world fishing town, the beach quite a long sandy strech and has good seafood restaurants along the road.

Mt Lavinia beach - for a faster pace, drive about 50 km to Mt Lavinia beach where ther are live music concerts and sporting activities.

Negombo Beach Restaurants and Bars

Typical Sri Lankan cuisine consits of a staple of curry and rice. Curries come in various degrees of heat. Kiri is a fairly mild, white curry made with coconut milk. Badun is hotter and considered black because it is made from roasted spices. The hottest variety is the red Rathu, made with tons of red chilli powder.

Negombo's position on the west coast ensures that there is plenty of wonderful fresh seafood, such as lobsters, prawns and crab, and dishes usually include coconut. Negombo also has good German and other European food because of the high number of European immigrants to the area.

Seafood - Poruta Road. This restaurant serves moderatley priced seafood in simple surroundings.

Silva's Beach Restaurant and bar - 5 Poru Tota Road. Friendly atmosphere, the owner will advise you on the catch of the day and the seafood is fantastic.

Bijou - Poru Tota Road. Excellent noodles and seafood ar on the menu at this Swiss owned restaurant.

Alt Saarbrucken - 35 Poru Tota Road. A taste of Switzerland with creamy fondues and heavy wood furniture.

Blue Moon - Lewis Place. Good value for money cuisine and a friendly atmosphere.

Negombo Beach Bars & Clubs

Rudis Bar - Poru Tota Road. Enjoy cheap wine and light meals while you amuse yourself by reading the graffiti scribbled on the walls by travellers.

Club Tropicana - Poru Tota Road. Lively disco that is not part of a Hotel.

Don's Beach - 75 Lewis Place. Guest accommodation has a disco with a nice vibe underneath.

Golden Beach Hotel - Lewis Place. Wonderful hotel with a great night club packed with tourists.
